At the time of the birth of Temudjin, the Mongols were divided into various tribes and clans, each ruled by a khan, or "Lord", which was imposed by force more than the noble ancestry.
Like almost all Mongols, Temudjin had probably been trained as an archer mounted from a young age. The ability mounted, led only to the knees and the skill at archery, combined with a hard life on the steppes became the Mongol warriors greatly feared and respected.
Before the death of Genghis Khan, this established his son, Ogedei, as his successor. Ogedei undertook to expand the Mongolian territory to the maximum, Syria to Indochina, from Persia to Siberia, Hungary to China. Later, the great empire would be divided into 4 parts, among children and grandchildren of Genghis, but none of these new realms, or khanates would have a long life.
