Subject: Fallout 3 Crashes on startup Thu 22 Jan 2015 - 16:24
Some months ago I wanted to insatll an ENB on my heavy modded fallout 3,this was a fatal fail,I could load a savegame but when it was loaded and I should be able to play it crashed to desctop.I tried to fix it but it still didnt want to work,so I decided to uninstall it.Now some months later I am missing it...so I installed it again,no mods,no dlcs,no ENB a fresh install(I deleted the Fallout 3 folder)but still the same problem :/

Some quick questions: Are you using the same saves?
If so, did you have any major game changing mods previously as well?
Also, if you're having trouble loading your character from the menu then select "New Game" and load your old character from the pause menu.

So you deleted the ini's in your documents folder as well?
Also do you have the retail or Steam edition?

Yes everything is deleted,nothing was left. No I have the GOTY edition its on 2 discs

Retail refers to the game being on discs rather than on Steam. Anyway I'd first try repairing the install. Though I want things to be clear here: You said before it was crashing while loading your character right? When is it crashing now? Edit: Sorry I know this can be annoying, but I'm trying to fully understand your situation.

Same thing now.The loading screen shows up and after 2 or 3 sec I get a ctd,It worked perfect 2 months ago until I wanted to install an ENB,then I had to uninstall it.

Try this ini tweak: Open up the fallout.ini file in: My Documents\My Games\Fallout3 Find the line:
bUseThreadedAI=0
change it to:
bUseThreadedAI=1
Add another line after it and insert:
iNumHWThreads=2
Edit: I'll be in class for about 75 minutes. I'll help you more when I get back if you haven't already gotten it fixed.

No need to help I already know all of those tweaks/changes they all didnt help me,oh and this ini tweak prevents game freezing and crashes caused if you play longer than 5 min ,not fatal errors

Well yes that is true about the tweak but you should try everything you can until something works... Also, is your FO3 fully updated?

Oh the dll patch doesnt work at all with my fallout 3,every time I put ANY d3d9 file into the fallout 3 folder,the game doesnt even launch.This is why the enb didnt work 2 months. I thought about playing TTW but heard about the problems you can have so I better keep my fingers off it. Yes the game has the fully updated,maybe I am just crashing because I did not install the dlc wich are maybe needed to run the GOTY edition.But I cant find the dlc disc
