| Hey. The name's Parker. I'm a jack of all trades, but mostly, I play games, make art (ask me for my portfolio), and attend college-- working on my cybersecurity degree. I'm a huge fan of the Elder Scrolls series and the Fallout series, and would like to be able to create mods for both of these. If anyone has any ideas on how I could get started on that last part, I'd really appreciate it. I don't have a lot of free time right now, but when I do, that is definitely something I'd like to look into. Are any coding languages necessary? What's the learning curve like?-- just things like that. Aside from that, thanks for letting me in, and I hope y'all're having a great day. |

| Welcome to GUN @justareflektor. Make yourself comfortable, it's an easy place to hang out. Just learning to manipulate mods in your games gives you a heads up on creating your own. Scripting mods is where coding comes in and I have no knowledge of that....others will. Luckily, scripting and coding are not requirements for creating all mods. Other very clever author's have created tools for us to make mod assembly much easier. XEdit is one of these, along with things like Nifscope and Material Editor. Hopefully you will find the answers (and time) to pick things up, but you don't have to be a mod author to contribute here. There are lots of forum threads on both game series you like and many fans of both here as well. Check out the stickies in the welcome section on mod access and site rules, then enjoy! |

| Well hello there and welcome to the family!
Here's what I can offer in terms of help to get started with modding, get a modelling software (3DS Max or Blender)...You'll find more help in terms of guides if you're using blender, but 3DS Max is easier to use imo. Download Nifskope and GIMP as well. Head on over to youtube, there are some guides on how to get started there.
Also, one last bit of advice...be patient with yourself. It took me about six months to get it down packed so understand that it's a bit of a grind.
Best of luck! _________________ "Unique stuff is the treasure burrowed between shit" -Luka |
