I think more time between will increase participation. If they happen too much, people will think "I'll enter the next one." Every six months would be good.
I like the idea pretty much,but most probably i don't take place because my screenshots {whatever they are anyways) usually sucks. Well i also thought we should spicy it up a bit and the winner except the feature on the gallery section wins a low price steam game(usually from week sales). I think the 2 times in a year is the wise amount of time and preparation period.

The gallery will no doubt show some of the awesome mods off to new incoming members. Also I'm fine having a contest once a month but I'm concerned about the limited space we have. If I had to say, every 2 months should be the minimum.
Since there are different suggestions, making a poll would be fair. It has been suggested: - 2 weeks/1 month - 2 months - 6 months In any case, good luck all with the contest. It will be a difficult choice for us voting the best pics, there are already so much around that are splendid. :-)

Let's not determine how many/year yet :)I'd rather think about how long it should stay open. I'd say we offer a deadline/time-period of a week or two, and when that closes, judging/poll begins.
We also have to figure out how we determine the winner. Selected/Voluntary Jury pool? Voting poll? If by Jury, who wants to not participate as contestant but is also a good judge of screenshots? If by poll, each picture should have a voting option? Or by submitter stacks first as semi-finals and by individual pics in the finals? Should we allow multiple choice voting?
Or no poll at all, and we just give them numbers, and people post their selection of their favorites by specifically mentioning just the number of the chosen one. But in this case... NO QUOTING of the pictures, please! And then... a limit of 3-5 votes (in any order) per voter? or rather a Top 5 Favorites (in order) for each vote to count?
So someone could vote: 1. X's 3rd pic; 2. M's 1st pic; 3. J's 5th pic... Or someone could vote: Pictures: 6, 12, 16, 21, 24
I suggest it starts this monday 14th, ending Sunday 20th. No money or costing gifts as rewards, or we'd have to have an entrance fee for each contestant, and nobody wants that.
We have to figure this out. For real, focus on the important stuff, folks

I think voting should be anonymous, so we may need a volunteer to accept and collect PMs. Voters could nominate for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. The votes are weighted 5, 3, and 1 points respectively.
I would like two weeks to prepare the shots as I plan to be a contestant. Maybe May 1st could be a clean, easy to remember due date for all pics. Contestants can submit their photos in a special new thread.
I also plan to make a small mod that will be released exclusively as a consolation prize for all contestants. I invite all other modders to join me in this. Maybe we can put together a fun package
It may be worth inviting some people from the nexus to participate too. Miss Morose and Frantar for example.

I'm looking forward to this more than I thought I would be, not that I have any idea what I'd shoot images of yet. I actually mentioned to Miss Morose [the most great and powerful] that I was posting a couple images with Vedette in them on VGU to verify she didn't mind; I'd be more than happy to pass on an official invitation if you'd like. I know she'd be thrilled to learn she's well thought of at the very least.

okay for hosting your images you use www.imgbox.com or similar websites then use the BB Codes (not the html) links generated by it the ones that start with [URL=... not the ones that start with <a href...
for hiding them with spoilers you use [spoiler] 1. image 1 here 2. image 2 here etc.[/ spoiler]
just remove the space between / and spoiler in the last bracket

heh the way you voted (or if I get any votes at all) is none of my concern once the PM is read, it will be sent from Outbox to Sentbox until then I only get reports on the number of PMs received not of the content of the votes themselves that will be settled from the 7th to the 10th of May
so far the vote PMs are pretty scarce, though really, I expected at least 30 votes till now and we barely broke 11... so I was addressing the entire forum population: VOTE!
Vote whoever you like most, just have 5 votes in a PM to Rudyard we can't have more contestants than we have voters, now, can we? xD
