| I thought I'd start playing new vegas again but I've found a weird issue where when wearing some headgear like the cowboy hats my character and other NPC's hair dissapears but when they wear some other headgear like berets and ncr trooper helmets the hair doesn't dissapear.
It would be great if someone could help me fix this issue. |

| Are these custom hairs styles, or vanilla?
If yes to both, you may want to try this fix, or reconfigure the EGMs yourself.

| I came across this issue and when I looked into it I found that some hair is not coded for some hats. I'll try to explain as best I can. For example I used Drags Rick Grimes Race to make one of the characters from the New Vegas Bounties 2 look like Rick. I added a hat on him and hair was gone. I found the same happened when a party hat was put on. So I was like what is causing this? So there is a code where the hair type is whith the hat types. Each hair is included with each type of hat. I believe in the hats not the hair. Like lukaboot said that sounds like the issue. _________________ |

| @"Hoppyhead" If I remember correctly, the way hats are assigned slots are what determines if hair of any kind is visible. I'm really just guessing, but I think hats that remove hair use the helmet slot. If I still had F:NV on my PC, I'd look in the GECK for you. _________________ We have arrived, and it is now that we perform our charge. | I'm not using custom hairs except for fco hair retextures and maybe new Vegas redesigned 3. Could the issues be coming from extracted vanilla meshes. |

| @GreatTeacherAlex GreyKnight has the right idea. Typically when assigning slots in the GECK when porting over armors, There is an option to have the helmet/hat take up the slot of the hair. It's as simple as going into the GECK load up the esp file you want to edit, select the helmet/hat you want and untick the "Hair" slot. Course, if you have a character with funky hair, it will clip through the hat/helmet. _________________ "A drop in the Basket, Is Worth a Shepherd's Shilling" ~ Danka Chevchnov

Glad to hear that you have sloved/fixed your problem/issue. Would be nice to know for the other members how exactly you fix it. Perhaps a small tutorial, so when someone has the same problem and use the search function, he can read your post. |

| I went into the headwear in the geck then deselected hair and the hair now showed but it now clips through some of the headwear but I'm happy with it. I think with a bit of messing around in the geck the clipping can be fixed. |

| i dont think that geck could help you out there. you have to load the hat in an 3d graphic program like 3ds max or blender, with the skeleton. then load the hair nif and the head nif. then start to edit the hat nif so that the hair wont clip through. its not a big deal but depends on what hairtype you are using. the important thing is to edit the hat that way that it wont look odd, like too big. _________________ |
