So far, nothing has been 100% confirmed. I haven't heard Obsidian nor Microsoft explain the situation if the rumours are true. We're just going to wait until we do get a confirmation from either of these two.

Well all things Considered gaming is still a market ....now that people have formed cults after them...well that has happend since the stone age , even thoe I am out of the loop I shall simply pray they do better
the team that worked on FNV has kinda parted ways but history does like to repeat itself

Is it gonna be a similar case to when they bought Rare, where they shelved all the great titles that could've been, and then the people who made the company what it was will leave?

So it looks like this was not a rumor after all. Not only that but they also acquired InXile.



I am not going to lie when I say that I am getting Black Isle nostalgia after hearing this but I am also hoping that Microsoft doesn't become that french guy from Interplay.

I will stand on the sidelines and watch how this goes; Every time a big company buys over the rights of the smaller one - they cancel games that the smaller ones had planned and showcased. Like Star Wars 1313, it was highly anticipated by the crowd until Disney brought the rights and said: Nope we cannot have violent games. The list can go on...

Wouldn't hold too much hope for this. It's still Zenimax's IP and while they've been pretty close with MS over the past few years, with Xbox mods and Fallout 76's focus of Xbox, I can't see them handing off their IP to them. At the time FNV was made, Obsidian were contracted as an independent company. Now they're owned by MS. It changes the dynamic quite drastically.

EDIT: On a plus side, I'd love it if they reunited Avellone and Sawyer and let them create a Van Buren esque game, like they had planned so long ago. You could easily strip away the Fallout dressing and make a great game out of it by just using the core concept of Van Buren's plan. COuld even just make it Wasteland 3...

I think anything is better then Bethesda at this moment. Let's hope MS let's Obsidian do their thing.

This is a good thing. Obsidian won't go out of business with Microsoft's backing, and their games will still be available on PC. The only negative is the Windows Store, but that's it's own issue.
