In my current playthrough of FNV I'm playing against Mr House for the first time. I'm roleplaying a Courier who destroyed the securitrons in the bunker under The Fort to save their sorry hide from being put up on a cross.

I find it jarringly unbelievable that Mr House didn't lock up the Lucky 38 again. Assuming it's been locked up until the Courier's arrival at the Strip; why would Mr House let the Courier waltz back into the Lucky 38 after clearly demonstrating he has control of the front door. Especially after I have crippled his plans to upgrade his securitrons - there aren't even any guards put outside the casino. I had to close the game to come up with a likely explanation for how easy it was for me to get back into the Lucky 38.

So my question for you, murderers of mankind's greatest hope for salvation, is how do you deal with these stark reminders that you're playing a video game? Suspension of disbelief?

The platinum chip is what all true couriers strive for!

The chip is used to gain access to securitron vault under the fort and upgrade the securitrons. It can also be used to bypass the terminal to get into Mr. House's inner sanctum in the Lucky 38 control room. You CAN still get into the Lucky 38 control room without the chip but you'd need to hack a Very Hard terminal.

Yes Man stated that he needed the Platinum Chip in order to gain control over Mr House's network.

It probable that the platinum chip could have been used to override the outer doors.

TL;DR
The platinum chip is effectively a skeleton key in the lucky 38.

It was originally going to be much harder to penetrate the lucky 38, if you betrayed house, but like a lot of other content, it was cut. House was also going to talk thru the intercom, as you stormed his tower, victor would also exclaim how he should have left you rotting in the dirt. Pretty cool, should have stayed in

I was wondering why I wasn't required to hack the hard terminals. This information actually helps greatly with my sense of immersion, +rep!

Yeah I forgot to mention as this was my first time betraying Mr House this was also the first time I have heard the restored cut content, via New Vegas Uncut: Outside Bets, including the final showdown with Victor and Mr House's taunts as you fight through the Lucky 38. It was awesome

It's really all too easy to just casually decide to kill House. Although the game goes out of its way to criticize your action from a moral standpoint moreso than anything else I can think of. "Humanity last hope has died" or something like that in the message.
