So downloaded the EXE - Effect teXtures Enhanced mod in the steps of SinitarGamings New Vegas Ultimate guide. The guide tells me:

After installation, check water surfaces in game and if you'll have pixelated water textures - DELETE files in data/textures/water folder

Spoiler:

Here's the problem... there is no water folder. Soooo what do I do? Before you suggest that I go to Sinitar Gaming's discord server, I was banned. Apparently telling him I wasn't trying to troll anyone, when he accused me of trolling was enough to make him ban me. Alright, well does anyone else here know what to do?

Topic moved from Workshops to Fallout troubleshooting.

I'm not going to use this as an avenue to single someone out. I will say just now that I do not have a solution to the problem you're having but will only offer advice in return.

These game guides for modding, especially for Bethesda games are hard to replicate. Certain systems have different requirements, power and temperament. These guides have caused arguments in the modding community before and it is rumoured that Sinitar himself is a known mod leaker, almost singlehandedly shut down the remnants of the B42 project for basically being a bit of a stubborn bitch. My advise would be to follow the mod author's tutorial from the mod authors page directly, always install one mod at a time so you can identify what mods are causing problems.

Modding Fallout is a labour of love, nothing is ever going to work 100% and these guides promote and tout 100% compatability because the writer themselves have had no issues using these mods. You cannot promise that this will be the same for everyone. My advice would be to uninstall the mod completely and follow the instructions from the mod creator. Another member of GUN may be able to assist you directly in this problem but as a go-to, I would suggest staying away from modding guides and tough it out on your own, It may seem daunting but it really is the best way to learn and combat problems down the line.

Apologies if this has came across as patronising in anyway as I am assuming your level of mod knowledge and expeirence. I hope you fix your issue soon and hope you get your game working the way you want to

I'll say it straight, you shouldn't have followed what that asshole made up, a lot of smoke he 'sells', always trying to stand above everyone else with his over the fucking top, barely put together with glue and tape dumbass guides, a pretencious prick the guy is, i'm damn sure of that.
Modding your game takes time to learn several essencial things along the way that makes you comprehend the way the system works and how to modify it to your liking, it's a journey.

See, as you start your way to modding the fallout games you'll realize that all these have all its files packed in these BSA files, a format that Bethesda uses to compress large amount of data, kinda like a rar or zip, but different as it plays a different role according to the game, this is why you won't find much files in an unmodded Fallout data folder, that changes when you start modding the game, because every time you dump files in your data folder, (in the case of replacers, say retextures, mesh fixes, overhauls etc) these new files replace the ones in the BSA without deleting them, as they are safe as long as you don't touch the BSA itself, that's why you can erase and replace, basically mess around with textures and meshes IF you know your way around the files and how these work.

As to your problem, if you want to revert what you did just compare the mod's files to your own data folder, check if you installed it properly, many modders give the users the content of their mods with the file paths already made so you just have to dump the stuff in the data folder and call it a day, some prefer to give just the texture/mesh etc for you to place it in the right place, you might have placed the stuff in the wrong place, it happens a lot, even to the most experienced modder.

Don't hesitate to make any post of you run into any other kind of nasty issues with your modded game, we'll do our best to help.

@Allen Reyes  I totally agree with @The Rabid Dog just use his list of mods to select or to discover some mods you could miss in the large mod list of the Nexus but NEVER use his guide. System are very different from one to another and learning how mods works alone or together in YOUR game takes time there is no easy way. Even merging files is a very personnal project, which mods would like to merge together? Would they work merged? How they will modify my personnal gaming experience? You have to make choice by yourself and not follow this selfish asshole. Seriously the man did a Patreon to make money by doing guide lists of interesting mods made by others and distributed freely Big Slap

@Allen Reyes - I see you're using Mod Organizer. You are looking for the data folder in the wrong place. MO uses a 'virtual' data folder which is better IMO. In MO, in the left side where the mod is: right click on the mod, in the pop up menu select 'open in explorer'. What will come up next is the data folder you are looking for. If you see a ba2 file there you will have to use the Bethesda Archive Extraction tool (BAE) to open the archive. There you will find the file you are looking for. Your choice after you follow the guide's instruction is to leave the file in the un-archived form (which is what I do) or re-archive it.

Learning to manage your files in MO is key to modding successfully. Each mod in the left hand pane can be pulled up to find the virtual data folder and be manipulated in the same manner. I would stay away from any of the base game files or even the .esm files until you really know what you are doing.

@jacoboriley Thank you good sir. I was able to find the file that Sinitars guid talked about. Unfortunately his guide isnt all that great as Tyls, The Rabid Dog, and Voyevoda1 said. By the way thanks to you three. Turns out the water was just the tip of the iceber. I currently have, this glitch. Before you ask, yes I uninstalled texture overhauls 1 by 1, and started new games each time. This glitch is still there as shown..

Spoiler:

Suggestions?

UPDATE

Turns out this is a common issue with ENB's so I got rid of all ENB files and it was fixed.
