| So...the blue forcefields that show up occasionally in fallout. If you had a large enough of a forcefield -- like a dome over a city -- and a tremendous power source to power one that big, could it survive a nuke? Is there any evidence in the games of what can or can't take down a forcefield by force, other than liberty prime? |

| In Fallout 2, you can take town force fields if you have the necessary repair(/science?) skill. These force fields also require some sort of emitter. It probably works like a curtain and a curtain pole where the force field is the curtain and the emitters is the pole.
These emitters can be destroyed as seen in Fallout 3 where Liberty Prime just smashes these things so I would assume a nuclear bast would do the same if the emitters aren't protected. _________________ Will there be enough Dakka? |

| I think liberty prime was doing something very special to those forcefields that didn't involve brute force. He did it with a touch, never with the laser or bombs. With one forcefield, he says "Initiative directive 3795" and collapses the forcefield. Later he grabs one and says something about overload -- but never by pounding on them. I can't think of any case where a forcefield was clearly and definitely brought down just by brute force rather than something sciency / hacking. They're probably retro-engineered technology like many other enclave toys. |

| Liberty Prime either overloads/sucks out the power from these force field emitters to destroy them and get rid of the force field.
I am not entirely sure how force fields work in the Fallout Universe but I think these emitters are electric based. If these emitters are not done in by the force from the nuclear blast, it could go offline from the emp.

| Very good point, I hadn't though of EMP. The fact that you can shoot a forcefield with 1,000 fatmen and have no effect unfortunately doesn't mean much. You can shoot a chair with nukes and the chair won't break. There's no scripted story event where someone tries to brute force a forcefield unfortunately. |

| Forcefields are something I wish would have been a better object in Fallout 4's settlement creation, where attackers had the ability to destroy them.
Good thoughts tho _________________ ____________________________________________________________

Good thoughts tho Nearly indestructible forcefields are absolutely a part of the fallout world, so it should be possible to build them in a settlement, even if not right from the beginning. They probably have a huge power requirement. But then you'd really only have to worry about attacks by hackers, teleporters, digging enemies, flyers, and liberty prime. |
