I understand that this mod fuses both Fallout 3 and New Vegas into one game and that you start it off as The Lone Wanderer. But since it does fuse both of these worlds together, will it make it difficult to have a heavily modded playthrough because how unstable and poorly optimised they are? I would like to use a lot of retextures mods (NMC, MGS, WRP, etc), an overhaul for the NCR (the one dragbody made a few years ago), the power amour overhaul, Drumber's NPC mod and a few other tweaks.
I think it be an awesome experience playing both of these games as one but if I can't use the mods I like, then I'll have to stick to New Vegas. So for the people who do use TTW, is it possible to play the two heavily modded?

I use it and yes you can mod it, just make sure you install a TTW patch for the mod if there is one and only use new vegas mods, fallout 3 mods will most likely cause some issues

Besides Drumber's NPC, all the mods you listed, i use aswell in my ttw load order and they work just fine for me.

I have a weak computer, but to my happiness, the TTW is excellent, and the fashion drags are also going fine.

I don't use it because of the instability and conflict that has with shit-ton of mods out there. Also my laptop will explode if so. lol

If you can hold off for a while, there will be a new version of TTW (3.0) and it'll bring tons of new features, stability and overall a significantly better experience that's a bit more user friendly. If you've been waiting for a long time to try it and can't wait anymore there's some great guides to help you get a pretty stable game. I recommend two:

I am really loving the TTW. Makes just...a huge game. truthfully.

Just another question, would I be able to start the game as the Courier and then travel to the Capital Wasteland to do Fallout 3's quests?

@RangerGUN I don't think you can start as the Courier, but once you get to NV you can travel back at any time when you get to the train station in Freeside(which means you should try to avoid mods that heavily modify Freeside's cell. Small ones like a new shop work fine though).

If you do get TTW, I highly recommend TTW Interiors. It revamps pretty much every player home in both maps and gives you more upgrade options. In DC, Both the Tenpenny home and the Megaton home are obtainable and are bigger. Tennpenny tower gets a casino floor. The Lucky 38 suite gets a huge addon which is essentially a copy-paste of House's floor, but more functional. You can also buy more themes for each house which includes a Sierra Madre theme(only 1 theme allowed at a time and it applies to all homes). New upgrades for each home include a water purifier, Sunset machine for ice-cold drinks, ammo bench, etc. The mod also adds a bunch of new interior locations for you to loot. New cells locations are placed all over the game and they include new decorative junk items and even some new foods.

I consider it a must-have mod for TTW. Just a side note, mods that alter the base-game(both 3 and NV) player homes are most likely not compatible. Small ones that add a simple object or something might work, but may not work too well. The Lucky 38 still has the original player home cell which only has a new door so mods that add stuff to that cell and make minor changes might work fine.

@"Wertologist" With ttw_startup you can choose to begin in Mojave Desert and I do it everytime. I prefer my Courrier suffer amnezia more than his sudden nine year disappearing.

I really wish I had the time to mod a completely new fallout game, it took so much time just making my FNV working as it is now. When I buy a new PC the first single time I have for myself will be spent making a TTW working with all of the best mods... Fuuuuuck I really want TTW ;-;
