I (almost) always go female. T'is what I am, and so most of my characters are that as well. That said, if the character feels like it should be a dude in my head, that's what I do. Same for most games, really.

I use Male, men make me uncomfortable.

I always try to make characters that appear the same as me, So In short I use the Male defualt with the rough beard. I think only once or twice I've played as a female character. But I think most of us prefer to play as the same sex as us.

I agree with fhatton7, i normally make my character look like myself unless im doing a character build like Legolas in skyrim.

I use female, because the extensive hairs an other things it can have (black widow perk, dialogue, the face and looks,etc ), also its awesome to see the game from both perspectives and view point (male & female) somethings change and others stay the same

I use male, not sure if theres any real reasoning behind it, i think it just suits my play style better, although ive never tried playing as a female.

I choose Male, mostly because I play the general soldier build, so that involves combat armor, and roving trader hats, which looks better on a male character.

I am a male because a lot of my armor mods have no female support.

And i want to play as a gun nut,addict and badass.

Well I used switch between male and female, but since Dragbody released the Daniel Craig race I just play as him.

Well When I play Fallout I always use a male character main because most of the armors in the game go with male heros so I want more of a variety when I play. Just like with Skyrim I always play a female character for that same reason.

I only play as males. I'd like to base my characters on myself, and the last time I checked I am a boy

Male, because i like wearing fancy helmets and heavy armor. I tried female once but i always picture them wearing light armor like the stealth suit(chinese version).

I use male because of the perks that you can get.

Hard to argue with that statement. Every time I play as a male, I give him a nice long thick beard.

whether its mass effect or fallout, i ALWAYS choose a male character. why? because i'd like to think that characters me.

Doesn't matter to me. I played both on all versions of Fallout.

The main purpose of Fallout is roll playing. There are situations that might be interesting as a female and others as a male. Some situations are just plain dumb IMO (like a female player following the legion story line. Can't see any sane female choosing to side with legion.. however... she was shot in the head. )

Games that are designed to be played as one gender as opposed to another.. that is a different matter. Same goes with some collections of mods which lend itself to a particular gender play style.
