Depending on how large and powerful the explosions are, I'd say the BOS Paladin can take this, much easier as well if he has a gun.

as @Implying mentioned
depends, what weapon is the Pally using? if a gun- witch one? and how far away is he/she? how the the force behind the explosion of the brahmin? if the Paladin is going at it with melee, then I would give the Brahmin favor- but if the Pal doesnt allow the moo-cow close which is the more smart thing.

though I never trust a Brahmin honestly, but I guess they're more "trust worthy" then Radios....
