Surprisingly....laser pistol and rifles. I always preferred a normal rifle and revolver. The laser stuff I just never got into.

There seems to be somewhat of a consensus here on avoiding energy weapons. I rarely use them either. I wonder if a lot of it does have to do with the look and/or feel of them. Changing that would go against the history of Fallout, so I don't know if that's a great idea on the devs part. I would gladly mod my energy weapon parts in fallout 4 to look more like contemporary sci-fi weapons, though.

Mines on the other hand... I think that's a given. They're the least useful of the explosive weapons, and in general I find mines/grenades more useful to sell. I happily take the caps, when I compare that to their killing potential. In addition to melee weapons, the likelihood of using them is vastly increased when they have a designated hotkey(mods to the rescue). The need to switch weapons before use kills all of the excitement. Games in general incentivize saving explosives for dire situations, so they just pile up.

Idk at least for me I wasn't a fan of energy weapons because plasma ones felt too slow and laser based ones were far too weak (until you skilled up enough) plus there isn't a wide variety of affordable energy weapons either unit you reach repconn.

I barely use Energy base weapons, plasma base weapons are too slow for me and most of the time misses the target, laser's are cool though ( pew pew pew ).
