Nexus is going to introduce Mod Packs and to ensure that any future mod packs don't break if a mod author decides to leave the scene and pull down their mods they are removing the modders ability to do so instead archiving their mods so that a modpack doesn't break due to a missing mod.

This was seen as a disrespect to the modders and basically stealing their work not letting them do what they want with it.

Combine that with the prices for Nexus Premium going up, the removal of the Life Time one-time membership payment it comes off as very greedy and shady being that modpacks are going to be big files and the free speed will make them take forever thus incentivizing people to sign up for their monthly membership plan making cash out of the modders work.

What is the problems with modpacks aside from what I already mentioned?  For one credit is lost when your mod is part of a big pack, instead most of the credit will go to the person managing said pack rather then the modder who made one of the pieces of that mod,  modders have no say whether or not their mod is included in the pack, and also modpacks can have the potential to cause problems as one works for on one person's PC might not work on another and maybe due to a mod included in the pack and they might single that person out and pester them to make it compatible with the other mods when they didn't even want to be associated with those mods to begin with.

But yeah that's the gist of it and if there is more i'm sure other members of the forum will chime in.

That's terrible I'm glad I joined the gunetwork when I did because I did pay a one time premium payment for nexus so yeah well this sucks thank you for the information. Hopefully the modding community can do something about this.

I really don't know what people see in modpacks. Searching for new mods is half the fun. Unfortunately, until you're experienced with the engine and the game's editor(which 99% of players aren't), about half the game time is just tinkering
That said, while the idea of saving that time and letting someone do the heavy lifting sounds good on paper, introducing a whole bunch of mods all at once is a terrible idea. You have to find what you like, and then make sure everything plays well with other mods and the game itself, otherwise you will spend even more time trying to fix things or make them work together, than you would just installing mods one by one. You can't make it "plug and play" unless you're a console player and using bethesda's own creation club service. This is also something I have not heard much demand from until recently, which makes me wonder if it is fully manufactured hype for profit from nexus staff.

That said, I do find it amusing that out of all the things that happened with nexus over the years, THIS is the breaking point. Better late than never, but it does show that certain fallout/TES modders are easily pushed around.
Still, it is good that other alternatives are popping up overnight. Might as well do a little bit of community service and share this little archive of various "Lost" mods and where they are now. The list is not complete, but I would still suggest you download everything you can, while you can. What used to sit out in the open could soon be exclusive to someone's discord circlejerk until foreseeable future

Nexus are being aholes with there new system of mod packs etc.
Most modders are making there own discords to keep posting and updating there mods specially in the fallout 4 category, plus i think modders are just fed up with nexus mods and there staff tbh.

Just to be clear. I do not read the emails of this nic often. So I only just now found this out.
WHO THE FLIPPING FOOk DO THEY THINK THEY ARE?
Seriously. What the freak is wrong with them at Nexus?
Have they completely lost their minds?
And then preventing modders from leaving and removing their mods?
That has to be illegal somehow and some where.
Are their no lawyers that play the games on Nexus?
There is theft, and stealing and robbery and fraud and theft. Did I mention theft?

I hope someone destroys the individuals at Nexus responsible for this. Because this is totally unacceptable.

The site use to be great. But seeing this and other things mentioned. Makes me just sick to my stomach. These modders worked hard for us and this is how Nexus repays them?
By stealing their mods and then profiting from it as well?

I am at a loss for words over this.
Thank you for bringing to the forefront.

It's all about the money, and making sure that mod packs don't have to be constantly updated or altered because some modder decided to remove his/her mod from Nexus and break the complete thing.

Not to sound super stupid, but why would a mod author want to take down their mod? Besides removing an obsolete mod I can not think of a reason.

A bunch of reasons, they are not satisfied with the work, whatever mod they was broken, perhaps they just don't want their work up on the web anymore.

Their reasons are their own at the end of day the site should be respectful of their wishes.

Recently I found out that indeed after a lot of backlash they allowed modders to remove their mods by filling out a form and it had to be done before a certain due to date.

As this posting that due date as passed so any mod currently present and uploaded in the future will never be removed only archived.

I'm a modder myself, albeit not of a skill level or content releases I would put myself next to major contributors, but a modder none-the-less and to me the removal for the sake of pride/vanity has always struck me as petty. In the end, Nexus isn't going to be hurt much by some of the bigger names taking their ball and going home, even less so by someone taking down their mods with only a few hundred downloads, but it is potentially going to frustrate or make the day of a user that tiny bit worse if a dependency is now unavailable or a amazing looking quest mod they wanted to try has been taken down. A first world problem for sure, but in the end it's the end-user getting it in the pants. If it's purely done out of spite then they are a diva.

Once my mods are out there on the net I realise and make peace with the fact that they are now partially public domain, and all I can 'control' is whether I continue to work of them or not. I can't undownload them from peoples PCs because I'm feeling prissy that day. Nor do I really see too much point in removing them.

Here especially it strikes me as odd because by definition most of the mods on this site are 'sourced' from other titles, and uploaded against the wishes of the developers who created them.

That said, I strongly disagree with what the Nexus is doing, and denying them the ability to use your hard work as a means to make money while cutting you out is an entirely different issue, and I wholeheartedly support those who pulled out on those grounds. I just dislike when people punish the end user for vanity reasons, and this isn't that.

I agree it's scummy making peoples mods into money they never see a penny of, but... you realise where you are, right? lol!
