| So I'm doing Three-Card Bounty, everyone else (Driver Nephi and Violeta) has a head, but after killing Cook-Cook he has no head in his inventory that I can take, and so I am forced to use console commands and spawn Cook-Cook's head in my inventory to complete the quest. I am trying to find the root of the problem and well the only other mod that affects the Fiends is Dragbody's Fiend Preview and Brave New World. I removed the mods, but I am still getting the same error.
Aside from that, if I am unable to fix the issue, would there be a way to use FNVEdit to add Cook-Cook's head in his inventory or even to fix the script (In which the head will appear in his inventory) with FNVEdit?
EDIT: After searching in the files, I found the script that has Cook-Cook's head appear in his inventory upon his death, but its not activating for some reason after I kill him. Anyone know how I can do something? |

| Do you have any other mods that could be causing this? Specifically ones that also alter Cook Cook or conflict with the other mods altering him? Do you have many script-heavy mods; script lag is a thing for these games.
You could also try console commands and see if that works.

This should add it to your inventory. |

This should add it to your inventory. For any other mods, I can't seem to find or pin point what is the cause. On the console command part, I already mentioned it. And well I'm trying to find a solution so I won't have to use console command to add in my inventory since its frustrating and well not rewarding when claiming my kill. For now a temporary solution is to add Cook-Cook's head in Cook-Cook's inventory with FNVEdit, until I am able to pin-point the source of my problems. |

| It's possible that I'm about to say things you already know, and it's also with pointing out that I'm getting into things I don't 100% understand as I'm no scripter. Having said that:
If you look up Cook-Cook in FNVEdit, which it looks like you already have, you'll see Cook-Cook has a script attached to him to put the head in his inventory on death. If you Ctrl+Left Click on the script (The red boxed line in above picture) then you can see the source and which mods are editing it. For example in my load order that script is edited by FO4 Power Armors - TTW Edition, which I never knew until now. It looks like that mod is using the script to remove Cook-Cook's armor and give him power armor, and has chosen this method because by editing the script and not editing Cook-Cook's inventory directly, the mod is not overriding Cook-Cook's own record and thus will not conflict with mods that make changes to Cook-Cook.
It looks like it may bring an important change to the script. Normally the script activates OnDeath for Cook-Cook, adding the head, but it looks like this change makes the script execute OnLoad, which I take it means upon loading the game with that character, i.e., immediately upon starting a new game, or upon Cook-Cook spawning? Like I said I'm no scripter. Even so this is my install, and it's your install that's at issue in the thread, and you may not have this mod.
However my point is twofold: 1) that you should check the source of the script to see if it has been changed by other mods. If it has, consider overriding the override and change it back. If you try this, make sure to load a save far back from before Cook-Cook even spawned, meaning from before you ever entered a uGrid that would cause Cook-Cook to spawn in a neighboring uGrid. If he's already spawned, you can try to use console command resurrect on him for a new spawn, or disable - enable which may reload the script on him. But:
2) As far as I know, scripts are baked into your save the moment you start a new game. Once there, there's no way to get rid of them without some sort of save cleaning program, which in my experience all cause more problems than they solve. This means that even if you do fix the script, the fix may not take effect in your current playthrough ever. You may need to restart to fix it. It's also possible that the script is baked into your save when Cook-Cook first spawns, which is why I said above that you should reload to before he ever spawned. And it's possible that the script is fixable mid-playthrough with some console magic - you don't need me to tell you how broken and unpredictable these Bethesda games are, and it's all very exhausting to think about.
Well I hope you figure it out, obviously you're not going to restart over some dude's head that you can easily console in. Maybe you'll find the script is being edited and you cna fix it for future playthroughs. |

| does anyone know how to fix this? i just realize dragbody overhaul mod are the one causing this
update: i found the way how to fix it, open fnvedit, choose raider preview esp where fiend dragbody overhaul, then you go to NPC section, then you go to item section, thats where you have to find 000cookcookhelmet - this one, you have to change it to headcookcook, just type "head", remember, dont change 000cookcookhelmet02 - reason: i dont know what it does
i tested this 3 times and it worked, now i can go to major dhatri and claim the bounty |
