Salem' s lot by Stephen King. Aside from the vampire theme it' s a perfect example of a dreary small town. The feeling that you're stuck there and its the only place to build up a life just like your parents and there parents...

I have many faves, but some I still think and have private discussions about in my mind  lol!

Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer
The Girl Next Door by Jack Ketchum (still have sad nightmares about it sometimes)
