| Anyone ever wonder why are the roads in New Vegas so damaged? I mean I know there was an Nuclear War and all but come on, whole chucks of asfalt?

| You also have to factor in the decades of no maintenance and the constant mayhem happening on them. Raiders are pretty common and they do carry explosives. |

| You have to figure that there were vehicles driving on the roads even after the nukes dropped. I know driveable vehicles aren't cannon to Fallout gameplay but they're clearly in the lore. I figured that the damaged roads would get to their current state like they do today: no maintenance and use of cars. _________________ "You know what, Trigger? Why don't you lead and I'll follow." |

| I mean in normal life if a road doesn't get maintenance by the government or something they look way worse than they do in fallout new vegas so I think it's probably not an exaggeration |

| Yeah it's been 200 years, so with the constant expanding and contracting the roads crack and crumble, so with no one maintaining them they get like that. _________________ |

| Well, as far as poor maintenance like people have mentioned already, it goes a little deeper than that. The elements alone do a lot more damage to roads than people realise. Things like ice can crack tarmac wide when it thaws, rain can cause corrosion over long periods, then the fact that people were likely still using them to some degree as well probably doesn't help. There's a reason road maintenance is so important. There are roads only laid out 20 years ago that all screwed up because of that. When you factor in nuclear fallout, the quakes that were caused by the bombs, nature and humans neglecting or in some cases intentionally destroying old world structures then yeah, it's real easy to wind up with a this. _________________ Muwahahahahahahaha!!!What do you mean evil laugh!? | I think most roads, at least on the West Coast wouldn't even be visible, being buried under the desert sand, especially after two centuries. Don't know how asphalt would react in hot, arid climate though since here in Latvia you need a single winter to destroy any road that has a single crack in it. |

That's actually a very interesting point. I actually feel like it would be pretty cool to see a New Vegas mod where most of the roads are buried just to make travel seem a little more dangerous and confusing. |
