Subject: Fallout 3 Crashing "New Game" Tue May 31, 2016 5:56 pm
Hello everyone! My Fallout 3 was gifted to me way back and just now wanted to look into a fix for this problem I had with it since. When I click on "New Game", right when it starts to load the game it would crash. I looked up some things on Google and all said something about Games For Windows Live or getting a mod that disables it. I downloaded Games For Windows Live and tried getting the mod that makes it not need it but both still seems to not have a fix on it. Im wondering if anyone knows a way around this problem?

Okay, I have a remedy for this issue.
Firstly, download FOSE. It will disable GFWL and provide more mod support. FOSE Link:

What operating system are you using? In Fallout 3, Windows 7 and newer require some ini tweaks to work, as well as having Games for Windows LIVE installed.

@"VenomStingerGaming" I did have Windows 8.1 , but I have windows 10 now since i upgraded like 3 weeks ago

Now somebody correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the fallout mod manager have a games for windows live disabler patch @John_570 did you try this

If you are new to modding, then download and install the installer version: just double-click it anywhere on your comp. and it works automatically.

@"VWgolfR1" The patch diddnt help the crashing unfortunately, but one of my friends off of Twitch sent me a link that adresses a few scenarios of Fallout 3 Crashing. The 7th point in the Steam Guide states EXACTLY my problem of crashing right when i press "New Game". Tells me I had to download a Fallout 3 Intel Bypass Package and put the D3D9.dll file to the Fallout Directory and it should fix it. Did that and it worked !! Thanks for everyone for helping!
I'll leave a link to the Steam Guide just in case anyone else is experiencing this same problem currently or will in the future. Also for anyone experiencing Fallout 3 crahses, like i said above, this Guide also covers a few different scenarios of why it may be crashing

Uh if you are on windows 7 there is a security update that breaks fallout 3, the one called "KB2803821 " deleting it fixed it for me. I also have updates set to manual instead of automatic!
