| Hello there I know many, many people do not like the Star Wars Sequels and that's ok (personally I love them, and they are among some of my favourite Star Wars movies but hey ho). Even though you may not enjoy the Sequels as a whole, what is your favourite (Star Wars - Edit) Sequel movie and why? Just a bit of Sunday positivity

| Hmm this is a tuff one. I am much more of LOTR fan so I guess I would say The Two Towers. I didn't care much for the Star Wars sequels but I actually enjoyed the prequels more. I was also around 6-7 when those movies came out and now when I rewatch them I can clearly see the horrible dialogue/bad acting but I still enjoy them I think simply for the nostalgia factor and that it reminds me of when I was a kid. So thats probably why. I think if the prequels were to have come out now with me currently being in my 20s id probably have a totally different opinion about them lol

That's fair, Two Towers is a great movie, I'd say my favourite out of all of them is Return of the King. Which of the Star Wars Sequels is your favourite movie? P.s. Sorry for confusion, should've been more clear lol |

| Personally, I felt that the Force Awakens was a remake of A New Hope, so it didn't feel all that special for me.
I hated The Last Jedi with a burning passion, still do.
So I guess I would go with Rise of Skywalker. I think it was the first of the three to be unique and original. It had a meh plot imo but it certainly tried to fix all the bullshit that Rian Johnson set up in the second film. _________________ ____________________________________________________________

| Being one of the few people who actually enjoyed TLJ, probably that. For as much as people hate it, at least it was original. I liked the way it used the setting to try out some different things, make the series a little more grey. Did it have cringy moments? Yes. But I honestly feel like people hate on it solely because of what happened with Luke, and yeah sure great, but if you want the stories where he's Jedi grandmaster, taking on the Yuuzhan Vong or Abeloth then go read them (and you absolutely should, they are amazing stories). It was very reminiscent of KOTOR to me thematically, being a lot darker and actually challenging the idealism of the source material, and while I will always vastly perfer the original EU, I respect the fact that it was the only movie in the series that felt like it had the balls to go against the grain and do something different with the IP than just remaking older movies.
Speaking of which, The Force Awakens was honestly kind of boring, just a rehash that followed a comfortable trend and didn't stray from the outline. Rise of Skywalker was just a safe way to end. It walked back a lot of stuff in TLJ, and just felt like a messy conclusion. Also Rey saying her name was Rey skywalker at the end was my least favourite moment in the entire franchise. I saw someone sum it up by saying she may as well have called herself Rey Star Wars...
My major issue, and primary defense of the Last Jedi, is the lack on new ideas and original ideas. The stuff in Force Awakens and Rise of Skywalker is watered down ideas from the EU, like the resurgent empire, or the return of Palpatine. But they fall so flat because the path there is so inconsistent. _________________ Muwahahahahahahaha!!!What do you mean evil laugh!? This is how I always laugh! - Bow Down:

| Ok, so I love all of the Sequels for different reasons. P.s. This is gonna be long winder lol. Force AwakensI do understand that people may say that it is a rehash of A New Hope and that's why it could be bad. Personally I don't really get this criticism. Is Return of the Jedi bad because it has a 2nd Death Star? Is Return of the Jedi bad for having the start of the movie take place on Tatooine aka a Sandy Planet? No I don't think so, plus it's different in so many different aspects that it's unique in it's own way. Whilst there's a 2nd Death Star, you've got different aspects like Endor, the Emperor, the conflict between Vader and Luke that it's fresh. I personally get those types of vibes from Force Awakens. Yes there's "another Death Star", yes there's an orphan set on a desert planet. But just because there are ideas that are similar to the other movies doesn't necessarily mean that it is bad. 1. Kylo Ren in general 2. The Search for Luke Skywalker 3. The defection of a Stormtrooper aka Finn 4. The mid section of the film, with places like Takodana and so on. 5. Han Solo - This includes the character development of him transitioning from a sceptic of the force to someone who believes in it's existence. There's also his character development from not wanting to save Ben Solo and not believing he can be, to the end of the movie where he tries to reach out to him, only to get killed. So I really enjoy Force Awakens, and I remember when it first came out how the majority of the reaction was positive around it, so I do think that the reaction to the other movies may have tainted it slightly. Btw, this is my favourite Sequel movie! The Last JediSo, this is gonna be difficult lol. Firstly I agree with @IRORIEH. I really enjoyed this movie for the same reasons. If there's one thing that most people can agree with concerning this movie, it's that the visuals are absolutely stunning. Like, it's one of, if not the most visually striking Star Wars movies. Sets like the Throne Room, Ach-Tu, and Crait especially are gorgeous, creative, and different. Another thing that most people can agree with is that the Finn and Rose plotline... wasn't that good, and I agree with them. However, for me, The Last Jedi is so unique and different with it's themes. Hold on, Luke Skywalker isn't perfect?! Surely not! How dare they?! Em, this is the character of Luke Skywalker that we see in the Original Trilogy. He can be bratty, annoying, impulsive and he's suspicious of the Jedi in general. Literally, Obi Wan and Yoda kept the truth of Vader being Luke's father away from him, arguing it from a "certain point of view". Of course Luke is going to be disillusioned with the Jedi, and yes, he's write in saying that the "Jedi" in the traditional sense DOES NOT WORK. That's what the Prequels were aiming at, and the Clone Wars too. The Jedi were so blinded about their own abilities that they let a Sith Lord rise to the top of the food chain. That's what I love about The Last Jedi. It questions Star Wars, in a way that makes sense and is not insulting. Believe me, I could talk about The Last Jedi all day, but I won't lol, no one wants to see that. So... finally... Rise of SkywalkerAgain, I loved this movie, however, there are some things that are wrong with it. It just feels rushed, and I personally wasn't a huge fan of the way Rey was a Palpatine, I preferred the idea that she was a nobody from TLJ but anyway. So, Rise of Skywalker. I enjoy the dynamic between the three leads of the movie, finally together as a group, and it's great to see them together. I love the fact that Kylo Ren became Ben Solo, and I was so glad to the pay off in this movie. One of the main parts that I love about this movie, is the fact that in order to get to the point of the Ben's Redemption, each of the three OT guys have had to sacrifice themselves in order to get this redemption. For example Force Awakens - Han Solo sacrifices himself The Last Jedi - Luke Skywalker sacrifices himself Rise of Skywalker - Leia Organa sacrifices herself And all of these sacrifices take place in order for Ben Solo to come back to the light. The different places in this movie are also great. From Mustafar at the start to Ajan Kloss, to Exegol, they all look great. And Rey... Skywalker... I don't hate it, I do think it would've been better if she said "I'm Rey... Just Rey", but that's whatever, I understand why they did it, plus the movie is literally called "Rise of Skywalker". Plus the Yellow Lightsaber reveal is badass. So yup, there's my defense of the Sequels TLDR - Force Awakens is my favourite. |

| The Last Jedi is the best of the three, by an incredibly large marging. Not only it had beautiful cinematography, it had great performances, a fantastic lesson at it's core, and it turned Kylo Ren in the best Star Wars villan ever.
It gave me some KOTOR II vibes, and I fucking love KOTOR II. |

| The Force Awakens, it is not bad nor great, just right in the middle. Hated the other two with passion, TLJ was unbearable (couldn't finish it, tried 3 times but couldn't, it is very, very bad). Episode IX was just awful, not as bad a TLJ, but awful. The ending was amazingly bad, the "I am Rey"... "Rey Skywalker" (James Bond wants his f* line back) made me laugh my a** off. - Meme:

| I know this isn't an official sequel as is takes place before the originals but since it was made in the sequel era I'm gonna say what the hell why not. It would have to be Rogue One. I really did not enjoy the sequel movies but Rogue One gave me LITERALLY a new hope for the future of Star Wars. It was such an amazingly well crafted movie that ties into the established cannon so well. Plus that Darth Vader scene at the end was fuckin sick |

Totally agree. Absolutely loved the hallway scene. One of my favourite scenes in all of Star Wars. If I had to pick from one of the sequel trilogy, I suppose I would pick The Force Awakens. I particularly liked the way Kylo was introduced, the shot of him igniting his lightsaber in the snowy forest, and it was fantastic to see Harrison Ford return as Han Solo. The Force Awakens also gave me the opportunity to see a Star Wars movie in a cinema, which was an unforgettable experience for me, even if I didn't particularly enjoy the way the sequels ended up. Getting to see the opening crawl in a packed theatre of fans was an emotional moment for me, as a lifelong fan. |

If you want more stuff life that you gotta read the Darth Vader comic that was written. It really shows him in his prime and is canon. Or listen to Star Wars theory read it. Yeah if I had to pick force awakens is probably the only sequel watchable for me. My first star wars theatre experience was Clone Wars so its got this special place in my heart. _________________ Gotta Like These Odds

Yeah if I had to pick force awakens is probably the only sequel watchable for me. My first star wars theatre experience was Clone Wars so its got this special place in my heart. I've actually watched quite a bit of Star Wars Theory, but never watched him read the comics. I'll have to check that out. His Vader fan film was amazing. I'm excited for him to put out the second part. It's a shame he can't make any money from it since Disney has a iron fist on that kind of stuff. It's purely a passion project but the quality he puts into it is stellar. And I agree about how the hallway scene reinforces Vader. For years, fans wanted to see Vader show off his full power on the big screen, and we finally got it! I think part of what makes it so good is that the scene isn't integral to the plot, but it's thrown in there just for the fans and will show new fans to Star Wars just how dangerous of an enemy Vader is. |

Amen to this I'm an unashamed hater of the entire sequel trilogy and Solo. Add to that I don't think The Mandalorian is nearly as good as it's cracked up to be, it's simply good by comparison. In my eyes, the entire Disney buyout has led to one dumpster fire film after another. The only shockingly good exception to this rule was Rogue One. In a nutshell, my issues with the sequels are: TFA was a blatant photocopied plagiarism of a New Hope, and they didn't even try to hide it. The only differences are things that made it Not live up to the original - Goth Vader knockoff became less and less intimidating as the film wore on, climaxed with his getting wrecked by 'a girl who'd never held a lightsaber before.' The roguish Han Solo knockoff disappeared for 3/4 of the movie. The gender swapped Luke (and this isn't a knock against Daisy - I think she could have down a legitimately fine job if they'd be working with an actual original script with a half coherent story) being a master level everything from the moment you meet her. Butt-hole-eyed not-Yoda-lady randomly knowing everything, having Luke's saber that was lost in Ep V, but in a perfect throwback to Lost just leaving all that info dangling and just moving on. Absolutely ZERO world building - Two conversations that last maybe 5 minutes combined in Ep IV between Vader, the Imp officers, and Tarkin give enough backstory to validate New Hope, a file that creates out of nothing the entire SW Universe - but JJ can't be bothered to link anything in his film to the DECADES of SW content hes riding in on or give even the slightest hint as to what the hell is going on, like why there's still a Rebel Alliance totally separate from the Republic thirty years after destroying the Empire... I could go on but I just remembered this was supposed to be a nutshell review XD. I just get really worked up about TFA because it's the one that set up the train wreck that is the next two films, but gets the biggest pass from all the fans when it doesn't deserve it. It's just as bad if not worse than TLJ Speaking of The Last Jedi, I could write another book, but I'll leave it at my biggest issue: The total and complete rape of Luke Skywalker's character and everything he ever stood for.. RJ spit in the face of that character and did it with that smug smile of his, and I'll be bitter about that to my dying day. There was no saving the trilogy after that so I abstained from watching 9 and have no plans to ever see it. The best summation I can give of what the message of these films was that the work, sacrifice, and and achievements of the Original Trilogy meant absolutely nothing. Literally. |
