Can I use Archive2 to compress 8k textures into a ba2? or do I need to keep it loose. cuz id really rather compress it...

I know it is done with 4k textures all the time. How many 8k files are you talking about? Most of us, even with high end PC's don't run huge quantities of 8k files. I personally only use them for big meshes like mountains, quarries, roads and such. Also for female body and face meshes. Other than that, it is almost lost on the game, even with really tweaked enb's.

If it is a small bunch of 8k textures you could just try it, load it and check in game. I don't believe there is anything inherently bugged about Archive2's ability to pack them. Maybe one of the others will chime in and say different. It's a great question that I'm curious about now.

Yeah its for my fusion body 8K skins and 4k face textures. To process textures the gpu needs to locate the texture and compress it anyways thats why things load much quicker because your doing work that needs to be done anyways for your graphics processor. Im pretty sure when youre compressing such large files you need to change the part after choosing dds format where It says something like max mip per chunk per default its 4. than it says something else right below and its 512 by default. im guessing its the compression ratio but you can only compress something to a certain point before you start losing data. when I tried at the default settings it gave me an error so I figured it needed to be set higher for bigger textures. I tried tweaking the ratios but couldnt get it to work for the body textures but I was able to compress the face textures at the settings 16 and 1440. I dont like randomly doing stuff like that tho cuz I really dont know what it could effect in game if I do it wrong hahaha so I wanna get input from someone if they know. And 1440 is not a measurement that textures go by its a measure of pixels usually in tvs and monitors. So it doesnt add up lol
