Welcome to the December 2014 Video Game Underground Screenshot Contest [Winter Edition]
This Contest is for screenshots from any Video Games (except for the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series)
Submission period: November 22nd > December 23rd
Contest Theme: ICE (this means what you want it to mean)
Number of Screenshots per Member: Maximum of 3 You can post one, two or three screenshots, but not more. Post them all in one post, before December 23rd
RULES of Participation: Rule 1: NO Fallout or Elder Scrolls screenshots. They have their own contests. This is for other games. Rule 2: NO screenshots outside theme parameters. Respect the theme, don't say you didn't notice it Rule 3: NO photoshop or other post-game manipulation This also means no memes, no added text (made-up dialogue) In-game subtitles are allowed as they are part of the game itself. Rule 4: NO mods, hacks or tweaks. Only Vanilla gameplay. DLC is allowed. Rule 5: NO nudity or other taboo material Rule 6: NO more than 3 screenshots/member Rule 7: NO submissions accepted after December 23rd Rule 8: NO other posts in this topic except submissions. Any posts without a submission or breaking any other rules will be removed and the poster will be given -1 rep. Rule 9: NO comments on other members' submissions Until the winners are announced, inappropriate comments will be sanctioned with -1 rep and removed. Rule 10: NO screenshots submissions without the name of the game that they're from. Specify, under or above each image, what game it is from. Rule 11: NO influencing the Judges. Do not be a kiss-ass to gain their favor. Do not try to explain the background/story of the picture. Try to make it explain itself.
VOTING Winner will be declared by a panel of 3 Judges (VGU's Got Talent style)
The judges are: DVAted Dragbody Dead Sirious (optional reserves: Nem, Undeadsewer, TheHulksCousin, Tesvixen)
Judge Panel members are allowed to submit screenshots, however they will not judge their own submissions. One of the Reserves will take their place over those specific screenshots in that specific case. The reserves will also be requested if there's a tie or conflict. Judging will be made by Christmas Eve (24th of December) Winners will be announced on Christmas!
DO NOT try to influence the judges in any way. Best screenshot will be judged by a combination of composition and setting. That means that a really beautiful screenshot may lose to a less pretty one that has a significant, story-telling or symbolical meaning or message in it.
PRIZES We will award 3 members: #1 Best screenshot & 2 runner-up Winners They will get the following rewards:
#1 Prize will consist of having the screenshot be represented in a 900x200 banner in rotation on top of the site. If you are not yet Promoted, getting the #1 spot will earn you immediate Promotion. Rules of confidentiality of the restricted mods will still apply. All 3 winning screenshots will be featured in the Site Gallery Hall of Fame and on the official VGU Facebook Page *All Previous Winning Screenshots have been added to the VGU Facebook Page as well* All 3 winners will be allowed to use an achievement signature created by Undeadsewer Like this one from the previous contest: All 3 winners will have their choice of any signature created by our fabulous Graphix Specialists, if they wish so.

Submissions Period has Expired
Members of the Jury, you will analyze each screenshot's Composition and Setting and rank them objectively on a scale from 1 (Worst Screenshot Ever Taken) to 100 (Perfect) Then separate your 3 favorite (highest ranked) screenshots and formulate a few phrases of your judgment on each of them. These will be shared privately by Skype or PM, and we will confront them, so as to agree on the absolute best. On a second plan, we will accumulate the rankings and see which has the highest of all rankings combined.
Judging Committee Reserves, feel free to make up the ranking as well Your votes will count if there's a tie-in or no consensus in the primary committee.
As for my submissions, I will skip judging them and will appeal to a reserve's judgment instead.
Winners should be announced on one of the 3 days of Christmas, or, otherwise, if delays arrise, on New Years Day

The Jury has convened and we have settled on our official 3 #winners!
On 3rd place, with a dazzling urban landscape overtaken by the actual phenomenon of Nuclear Winter, from the heart of actual Russia, from the depths of an actual video-game underground, underneath a few tons of actual ice, we have the Metro 2033 screenshot by @Juzkin590

Thank you to DVAted for the chance to serve as a judge on this contest. I want all contestants to know that I did not take my job lightly here and I spent a long time looking over every shot over and over. As a judge, I looked for theme, overall aesthetic value, and story-telling ability. There were only three winners, but so many more shots that were contenders.
Ormr set the standard for entries from his very first post and no one was able to top him. It was an impressive move and an impressive shot. I loved all three from him.
AdvancedTerror's Batman pic looked cool, but only stood out to me after I considered all three of the criteria I mentioned above. Any picture would be hard-pressed to capture the ICE theme better.
Juzkin's Metro2033 picture made me glad it was not a picture from Fallout. Otherwise, I may have not faired so well in that contest :p Truly, this was a great picture. Even though the caption is a slight eyesore to those of us spoiled by "~ tm", the image overall is striking.
