So I'm a pretty big Star Wars fan, I really like the lore, backstory, characters, wars, etc...

I thought Rogue One was the best Star Wars film made, but it wasn't part of a trilogy (Prequels, Original, etc) unless you count the "A Star Wars Story" thing as a trilogy. I was surprised at how it turned out, as I thought it wouldn't have been very focused on by Disney due to the new trilogy (Episode 7/8/9).

Anyway, I'm a bit skeptical on Solo as the trailer doesn't seem to provide much information, and the whole film being centred around Han's backstory seems a bit pointless in general - especially when concerning all the other opportunities for spinoffs that they could have made. I was wondering what everyone else thought about the trailer(s) and if they are excited for the film.

The trailer for me, made me a little more excited for a movie I originally didn't even care about. And yeah, I agree it's pointless. I think these "Star Wars Stories" are literally just so they can tell whatever stories they want (and Disney can milk Star Wars for cash).

But I mean, I'm fine with just having more Star Wars. I know people say to read the books and such if you want more, but I honestly have trouble with reading. Not that i can't read, but even if the story is AMAZING, I somehow still lose interest in picking the book back up and reading. I wish that wasn't the case since there are so many good books out there, besides SW books.

But, I'm getting off topic, I'm interested in seeing the movie and will probably see it. I'm just hoping the character development for the new characters is better than what Rouge One did. I honestly forgot most of the beginning of that movie. Although it is still one of my favorites because it brought darker themes to a Star Wars movie, something I thought we'd never get under Disney. Plus that end Vader scene is just great.

I'm disappointed they almost immediately went to do an establish character's backstory, since I loved Rogue One and was excited to see what they'd do next. It was a good trailer, I'm tired of there ALWAYS being new aliens. Like, sure ad one or two, but to keep the world consistent, use aliens that are established (gimme my twi'leks and rodians). This was my biggest problem with rogue one, not showing us what I think should be the proper diversity of the rebellion. This is a problem with Star Wars in general. All the movies except the prequels make it seem like there's maybe one alien for every hundred humans.

Originally I didn't care about Solo, and the first two teasers only made me care less. I mean, who in their right mind would want a Han Solo movie? Out of all the possible movies, who would ask for that? Not me, that's for certain. But this new trailer actually made the flick look interesting and I think I might actually see it now. I wanted Solo to feature the dark, seedy underworld of Star Wars. Smugglers, thieves, assassins, blasters, credits - no lightsabers, no Jedi, no Sith. It looks like that may be what we're getting!
I highly disagree with Disney's choice to annually release a new Star Wars film, though.

The guy that's acting Solo is just not giving me any Solo vibes, I think he's not the best choice for this character. Anyway, I'm probably gonna watch it in cinema but I really don't like the direction of SW after TLJ so if Solo becomes disappointment then I'm not sure if I'm gonna watch Episode IX. Trailer itself was OK, not great but not shit too

After The Last Jedi, I don't think I have it in me to support Disney's take on the Star Wars franchise. Not like I'm trying to put a dent in Disney, but I'd rather save myself both the money and pain.

At least the director isn't Rian Johnson. The Last Jedi was a turd of a movie. I might see it depending how funds are when the movie comes out. I don't mind so many Star Wars movies coming out tbh. I'm not going to get burned out of Star Wars anytime soon otherwise I would have long before Disney even bought the franchise, what with all the games, comics and books over the years.

You ARE a bold one

Really though, no way I'm seeing the rian johnson trilogy (whose idea was that?) I'm tired of talking about tlj online though, because someone will always be there to say i just "didn't get it" or wanted some fanservicey mess of a movie or because it subverted my expectations (it didn't). Anyone else think they should give Filoni a movie to write?

Personally I think Filoni would make a great movie. Regardless what you thought of Rebels, he knows what Star Wars is, and how it should be. He also knows how to properly introduce new things into the canon, and properly use what's already there.

Plus he almost made Revan canon, so +1 to him for at least trying to get him in there. At least the Mandalorian Wars are still canon, so I think there's hope.

It looked alright to me. I'll give a shot when it releases. Never been a huge fan of prequel movies, but hey.

The trailer looked good but I'm still sceptical, I'll see when it comes out, I suppose it can't be worse than TLJ...

Well.. I'm a big Star Wars fan and watched all of the movies multiple times, so I'm kinda biased, but the trailer looks good. I'm still a bit sceptical, because I don't know how good these 'Star Wars stories' are going to be compared to the 'main storyline films' that are currently getting filmed (like VIII). I loved Rogue One though. If you ask me they can milk the Star Wars cow for a bit longer, enough stories to tell right.

Honestly, when I first heard about this Solo movie, I couldn't care less, even though I've been into Star Wars since I was a kid. Now that I've seen the trailers? Well, I still don't care THAT much about the movie, but I'll admit, it looks like fun.

Who knows? Maybe it will turn out to be a good, fun, popcorn flick. But to be honest, I'm not going to go see it until I hear from everyone else if it's good or not. If it's good, I might check it out just to see if it's something I'll enjoy (Don't judge a book by it's cover, after all). If it's bad, then I might just wait until it comes out on DvD/Blu-Rey and rent it or something, in order to watch it out of morbid curiosity lol.

My interest in Star Wars films was cut down by the sequel trilogy being completely unwatchable. Add to the fact that I'm just truthfully not interested in Han Solo, and I'm not too thrilled or driven to want to watch a movie about him. I liked Rogue One a lot; it became my new favorite Star Wars movie.

What I want to see is a movie based on the cancelled series finale of Star Wars: The Clone Wars - the Siege of Mandalore, which focused on the show's two new main protagonists (Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex) during the events of Revenge of the Sith - where they're invading a heavily fortified planet held by Darth Maul and an army of Mandalorians, and right when they're about to win, Order 66 is issued and Ahsoka and Rex have to go rogue to escape the Empire.

All of that is canon, but it hasn't been seen; it needs to be, whether in a film, a TV special, a video game or even a comic book. A film would be pretty cool, but they're too busy making movies about specific characters and events, and, as I said, that stupid sequel trilogy garbage.

Am I the only one a little worried about the costumes some of the people were wearing in the party shots? They looked a little too earth based for me. I had the same complaint about the casino goers in The Last Jedi. I don’t remember anyone wearing anything that made me think it could also blend seamlessly into the real world in the original and prequel trilogies. It comes across as uninspired. What I love about Star Wars is that it’s more than just another sci-fi story. The universe has, up until this point, been extremely immersive. Little things like this distract from that, and make me worried about it becoming a trend.
