I'll admit, I find this site both amazing and slightly confusing.
Hopefully I can be learn to be a respected member of your community.

Quite right, I made this first account back in 17 but never bothered to post.
Truth be told, it was because I only wanted a mod back then and this is where it was.
But recently after taking the time to look around I've seen this site actually has significantly more depth than just a simple mod repository.

I may even be able to learn how to further my own little knowledge on modding, and I'll only do that by talking to the people that know.

And regarding the slightly confusing; because it's theres posts about being part of groups, and I don't know if want to join groups or anything. Im not good in groups. :/

I know what you mean when you say the site is slightly confusing (I felt this at first, too) but it soon wears off within the first few days of socialising and understanding the ins-and-outs of GUN.
I think that you'll come to adore GUN in the coming days, and become a member of the community.

Anyway, have fun on exploring GUN and using the mods!

One thing I forgot to ask; what are the rules regarding obscenities?

Obviously no flaming, that goes without saying, but I've yet to see anyone use a swear, is it a banable offence?

I checked the rules and guidelines and it doesn't seem to be there. Obviously using a swear as a direct insult will have consequences, but just using it to exaggerate a point or something seems to be fine (from my experience).
The reason why you don't see much swearing on the forums is that a lot of people in the community have a personal preference to not swear.

can not agree more, time is needed to understand things around here, probably like everywhere else I suppose and it worths it.

So here is a simple advice, do not bother with that, just live your life and participate along your needs and wishes, communicate, socialize, THIS is the thing that will make you recognized by the other members and if your behavior is correct, the groups will adapt themselves to you = number of posts + colonial rank eventually, etc... Just be yourself and show us you take care about others and they will do the same for you Wink
