Hello GUN, Hows it going. My name is Captainoob, short time lurker, first time poster. Just would like to say that I am thankful for this site and it's cool and legally ambiguous mods. Other major mod sites aren't having any of that so its neat that this one is.

My Youtube Channel is Captainoob. I basically screw around with weapons and this site has a cool selection of weapon mods on it which have been fun to use. (Although I've never posted a GUN mod on my channel before)

So on to the questions:

- GUN seems to have a bad rep, both in Admins and the site in general, what gives?
- How do we feel about CC?
- What is the process of posting mods?

- to post a mod ..... nothing easier, you chose the game (Fallout NV, 4, Skyrim .....), then you create a topic on your mod.
For more information, you can consult presentations of other mods or send a PM to an another modder.

Just gonna pop in real quick to say if you review a gun mod DO NOT REFER TO IT AS ILLEGAL!  We don't need that kind of attention.  Call it underground or just treat it like any other mod when creating the title.  Also don't ask for mods to be uploaded to bethedsa.  It's not possible.  Other than that this is a real friendly community with awesome mods you won't find anywhere else.

Since I didn't see this answered above... In order to change your profile picture just click on your profile, and on the top there should be a selection called avatar, just click that and you can upload an image from your PC or from a URL link.

If people don't like GUN, it's because they don't understand why there is a private section, they don't understand why modders don't want someone to steal their mods, they don't understand people. But you'll see that we are pretty nice (I hope).

@"Captainoob6" welcome, for the most part, its a friendly place, as long as you don't act childish, or badger the mod authors, then you'll do fine here.
as for bad reputation, it's not exactly a bad reputation, its alot of people come here hoping to find certain mods, then find out that those mods are in the special access area, and that they have to prove trustworthy to reach the level to acess them. most of those types are the one's either looking to steal the mods to upload some place and don't wnat to put in the work to prove themselves as trusted memebers. so they leave and the talk down about this website, when actually its a very friendly place, with modders whom are wanting to let people enjoy their work, without the hassle of places mile bethesda or nexus giving them greif avout what the mod contains. gunetwork is a more freeform modding website, and more leeway is given here then most places.

@"annex77" thanks, appreciate it, most of the newbies who come to gun are just wanting those special access mods, but they don't want to interact with the members, so they leave shortly after. if they's take the time they'd find a great group of individuals who will help out, and wants people to download their mods. thats why we make mods, they aren't made for us to use ourselves, if they was the case we wouldn't upload to places like here, and the nexus. we love to create stuff and share what we've created. honestly, ive never heard anyone talk down about gunetwork, i have heard many people talk down about bethesda.net, even thou i upload mods to it, lol.

I'd like to share my two cents here.

YouTube is where a few people featured our mods and helped them gain a little hype. Some players came to our site to get the mods and found out that some were for members only and that membership approval is not instantaneous. They responded in a variety of ways. The most common two were joining our site and engaging the community and eventually gaining full mod access. The other response was resenting GUN, name-calling, and hurling insults and lies.

For every YouTuber or Reddit user who hates GUN, you can easily find 5 who have made good friends here and had a good experience. More importantly, the pro-GUN camp will have examples to explain their feelings while the anti-GUN crew relies on anecdotes and a sense of entitlement.

Here are the facts:
1. No site admins for GUN have ever personally profited from the site or charged membership fees.
2. There are not that many mods in the private section and gaining access to them is not difficult.

As for Creation Club, GUN does not have an official position. We are made of thousands of community mem bers so we probably have a thousand opinions on CC. It is important to note, however, that GUN strongly opposes piracy or any other activity that weakens the gaming industry and community rather than supporting it. Accordingly, we support Bethesda's right to run the CC and respect the creators who choose to become CC devs. We will delete any links to CC content and ban accounts for people who post it.

I hope I am not speaking out of turn here.

-It mostly comes from a sense of entitlement. Most people are upset that they do not get the mods right away. While I do understand the frustration, they do need to realize that it's entirely up to the mod creators how their mods are distributed. It's really not that hard to become an approved member. Just get involved with the community. Talk about what you like, share your opinion, make fun posts, etc. However alot of people are stubborn and will continue to hate on GUN since they can't get their mods.

-Personally. I don't like it. I've gone on about this before, but I personally feel it's just another excuse for paid mods. And yes, I know what Bethesda said and no they are wrong. It is paid mods since most mods need more in-game credits which you have to buy. I was glad they supported mods until they revealed this. And honestly I hope it doesn't spread to future Fallout/Elder Scrolls games.

-As for posting mods...what do you mean? How do you do it? Just go to the right category on the home page "Fallout Modding->Public Armors->etc" then just click on the "new post" button then write a short description and post a download link. However if you use other mod assets be sure you get permission to use them first before posting. Also don't post someone else's mod.

-Click on "Welcome Captainoob6" then click on the "Edit Profile" option. Go to the "Avatar" section then choose to upload an image or I think you can use a link. Then click on "Save Changes" and you should be good to go!

I've never heard of any complaints to staff if that's what the first question is referring to. This site actually has some of the most lenient moderators I've ever experienced. Rather than nitpick over the smallest things, they'll just make the necessary changes and usually be friendly about it. I had another site where the staff were anal about everything.

Rant:

. The staff here don't do that. Any time I've seen staff intervene, they've done so lightly and weren't super anal about the minor things. A simple mistake wouldn't be blasted out of proportions here.

This comunity is for people that loves modding and share their projects and opinions freely, most of the people subscribe just to download mods and when they discover that there is a private mod page for ranked users most of them complain about how the only way to rank up is to "kiss admins asses".
As a relatively new member I didn't experience any of these problems that people complains about, so it's just frustration because they want to have a look at the "Cool" Stuff.
These mods are private because most of this "Underground" stuff couldn't be shared and mod autors takes risks while sharing those mods with other people so it's not that hard to understand why anyone shouldn't download them.

I appreciate the warm welcome from you all. Most of the GUN hate sounds like nonsense anyway. Just children parroting what they've heard - asinine anecdotes. I'm glad that you guys also aren't completely childish about the CC situation. It's honestly a breath of fresh air to have a mature modding community.

This site has a wide variety of members who are all pretty decent folk. We don`t always agree but we DO agree we love our modding freedom that have here. There is no drama and everything is puppies and candycanes for the most part. We aren`t filtered either as long as we aren`t talking like sailors in a saigon massage parlor. If you want a place where you can meet others who like the same stuff, dislike drama, and love modding and playing games... then this is for you. You should fit right in.
