In your own words, what are some things you would like to see in future Fallout titles that have not been applied in any of the previous games? What could be improved and what could removed?

I'd like to see a broader expansion of companions; more diversified roles for them would be great, they touched on it a bit in New Vegas with Boone as a sniper, veronica as a melee specialist, etc. Maybe more playable races with real world reactions from NPCs. Comments on your appearance if you're a ghoul or your stone cold attitude if you're an android.

I would love to have an quest in the future fallout title that takes you back in time before the bombs fell and all the people fighting their ways to vaults, hiding etc. so you get to feel like you been there before it happended, something like Metro Last Light did when you walked into that building where it brought you memoreis what other people seen when the bombs started to fall.

I'd like more quests and stuff to do like more random events happening and characters that don't look like they spent 5 minutes creating them.. some better graphics.. uhh.. another engine that isn't unstable as hell.. more modding capabilities.. that's about it

PostSubject: Re: The Future of Fallout    The Future of Fallout EmptySat Jul 19, 2014 4:47 pm

I personally would really like to see some sort of influence the player would have on the world in terms of characters recognizing the player based on story events and making decisions that much more drastic in terms of how it affects the world. Even if it means making hte game much smaller to more easily manage characters in the development process, I don't really like that making decisions in this game seem to affect the dialog that is played just to seem like the player's decision would have appeared to do literally nothing.

To that same degree, I think it would be interesting for the player to even convert locations and shelters to their home location as a means of either creating residence or finding sanctuary in a place where it could be that the player isn't accepted (for instance, taking refuge from someone like Caesar's Legion by hiding in a place like Novac). As a result, it could potentially lead to the player being hunted and taking lives with him/her because of their presence, and it could potentially drastically change up the game's world in terms of the people still living and not living.

Of course, these suggestions and ideas are just wishful thoughts in an open-ended game that are technically possible in other formats (I'm most certain a text-adventure can easily implement this, given the people writing and conjuring ideas have planned that much depth), but obviously with a great deal of work and attention-to-detail.

Only thing I never saw in FO3 or FNV was a stabilized engine. Vanilla games are so bugged and unstable that those problems nowadays are actually considered "perks" or "trademarks" of the series. Which is fun to say, but..

Also more customization would be nice, like giving the player the possibility to edit also the full body instead of just the face. I would still probably use a body+face replacer, but having 1000 npcs in a vanilla game that all have the same body and just some minor face changes makes me sad..

I'd like to see improved stealth mechanics and maybe more of a battlefield fell to it.Now here me out I mean when you move you feel like your moving,if you go in water you hold your weapon above the water,if your sprinting your gun moves with you.I'd like to see more maneuverability lie vaulting, climbing, etc.

Other additions I would enjoy are things like character growth.Physical, mental, psychological, and tactical,so things like dialogue, accuracy, and emotional response would change. So if you get rifle butted in the face once it's gonna hurt a lot. Then late game if your reflexes might get better or your pain tolerance and you won't be open to the attack as much as in the early stages. Also if you see ghouls for the first time you might be disgusted or saddened to see people who have gone crazy and are mentally tormented.

I would also like to see more character depth and back story, because they way I see it a game should either give you a detailed back story that the game gives you.Or give you a more open ended approach to it(Skyrim) with only lore to guide you. That's why to me it felt kind of half-a**d with the courier back story.

Of course this all my opinion and someone might completely disagree with me,and I'm excited to see other peoples opinions in this thread.

I think NPC's need to be more diverse. Obese people for example. Though as long as Bethesda doesn't shaft us in regards to modding, I think we'll get whatever we want eventually.

I'd really like a more effective karma system. Like, there should be so,etchings you can't come back from, like blowing up a city. You can do all the good in the world, but some will still hate you. It needs to be more dynamic too. Even if you blew up a city, some people may not know about that. I guess what I'm getting at is a better reputation system, not karma. In fact, we could probably do away with karma entirely. If we keep it, it should only factor in for chance encounters and not what people think of you. I mean, in real life, if people say doing so,eh hung will get you bad karma, they don't mean people will hate you, they mean that bad things will happen, usually in unexpected ways. Let's see that happen in fallout.

Also, graphics comparable to or better than skyrim. That would be tops.
Wouldn't mind animation and movement that doesn't feel like you're gliding through the world, but rather actually making contact with the ground and walls. Like assassin's creed or killzone.

I would like to see the same as JSev33, like every decision you make good or bad would ultimatly have an consiqence to it. Also more of an RPG element like what they did with Skyrim.. I liked how it just had that feeling to it. Would also like to see the other countries to see how bad they had become considering we already know U.S is screwed. Plus I never got a chance to visit the commonwealth from Fallout 3.

I don't think you can get any more 'player has influence on the world' than destroying Megaton with a nuke in Fallout 3..

As for the future of Fallout? Based on Bethesda's comments it'll be on Skyrim's engine, probably with graphical enhancements.

All I want out of it is for them to actually deliver the stuff they hype the game as having. Unlike Skyrim.

I wanna see motorcycles and more immerse hardcore mods. Can i please see my feet, chest also caps should have weight in hardcore mod how about mixed Black/Asian Hispanic/White. And make the Asian player race actually look Asian. And I notice whenever I make an African american character the lips are green it's really weird. Also more Ethnic hair's if I want dreads why can't get dreads or Afros or fades.

Nino, download 'Enhanced Camera' for Fallout 3/NV if you haven't already. Does exactly what you ask for in first person, you look down and see your entire body, even in custom armor. Amazing mod, IMO.

I know one can always dream, but I personally feel that it would be much more interesting to stir up a new set of conflicts for something like killing Caesar in New Vegas - either someone steps up to take his place and orders people to hunt the player because of it, or the entire Legion is in shambles and turns against one another simply due to a lack of control. Physically changing and reshaping the world's environments is one thing, but I personally would like to see more of a socialogical and psychological change in people when it comes to fruition that the player may have been involved in some actions that could easily steer the story into a very messy and gray field by making actions and words count for and against the player.

Yeah that was the disappointment in Skyrim, but it seems that way in most games now a days. They say they are adding all of this when they only add 1/4th of it when it comes out. The most I hated about Skyrim was the way they ended it :\
