Laptop not running new vegas like it used to

I play New Vegas on my laptop I bought for school, and while it's definitely not a powerful setup, when I installed New Vegas + mods for the first time it ran pretty well. I had around 130 or so plugins plus high resolution texture packs like NMC and some intensive mods like rePopulated Wasteland and Vurt's WFO, and would still get around 40 fps outdoors with AA off, and could squeeze 20 fps out of it with an ENB activated. However, it seems as my knowledge of tweaks and modding has gone up, my performance has gone down. I switched to Mod Organizer from NMM, tweaked my ini files, merged plugins, and all sorts of other advanced stuff. Yet now i get around 25 fps outdoors without any modded textures, and in places like Camp Searchlight my framerate slows to a crawl. It's extremely frustrating, as I love this game and what the modding community provides for it, but I cannot afford to put together a powerful gaming rig at the moment, nor would it be practical for my dorm room.

Can anyone take a look at my load order and see if I have anything wrong? I'm debating just doing a complete overhaul by doing a clean install and starting a new game. I use FNV4GB, NVSE, NVSR, Zans AutoPurge, CASM, NVAC, and all the other essential mods and utilities.

Apparently Performance of the Gods does everything that Better Game Performance does so for starters get rid of BGP. Also I'm assuming that Factions Reloaded esp is the merged version? If so, get rid of Mojave Reloaded because the merge includes it. Also try disabling Factions Reloaded altogether as well as the Military Expansion Project, as I imagine they add a heap of stuff around the Mojave. If all else fails it couldn't hurt to do a clean install like you said. Good luck Smile

Did you already try disabling all the mods and running the game? also is your disk space almost full? because somehow it affected my frames and both FNV and Fo4.I moved some stuff in another hard drive and it improved my frames and stuff.Try doing it and see if it helps.

I concur with BitBut in that it might be the disk space. When my disk space was full on my old pc, games I could once play with ease could barely function (though that might be due to some viruses that were present at the same time).

I agree with BitBut and Pilgrim, try clearing out space on your disk drive and seeing if that works, also try running the game with all mods disabled and see if it makes a difference.

The same happens to me, maybe is the same problem. In my case, I realised that this happens with older save files. My current save has about 300 hours or so and it runs between 20-30 fps with ENB, but when I start a new game it usually runs smooth as fuck.

Well I deleted a ton of steam games I was done playing and a bunch of old mod info for other games, but that didn't seem to do much. I looked through some of my merged mods and it seems the main culprit was my FCO plugin, considering it included Glowing Ghouls. I disabled that and performance improved drastically. I was even able to re-enable most of my texture mods and it is still working well. Thanks all for the advice, like I said, I'm extremely grateful.

Glad that everything worked in the end I too have glowing ghouls enabled might disable it soon since I had a few dips around them.
