Hey guys another thing I've found while playing Fallout 4. In case people haven't figured it out yet and need a little help with combat the game has cover mechanics with walls. If you're near the edge of a wall and you hit the aim button you'll pop out and then pop back in when you release the button. This works only for first person perspective.

Still gonna wait 'till GOTY edition comes out, though.

I personally walked up to a lot of small windows (most recently in the Walden Pond bunker) and tried to aim and shoot through them, while crouching under the sill, and it wouldn't work. Right clicking didn't make it so that I look up over the window's edge and shoot through it. But now that I think about it, I did kill a lot of raiders who were leaning from behind trees and such.
Maybe it only works behind vertical cover, to shoot and take cover to the side, and not from horizontal cover where you have to peak upwards and shoot over the "waist high" obstacles?

I'll have to test it further. Maybe those windows had crappy collision.

@DVAted True I've tried a window at waist height and it would't work. As is though it makes it great for tight spaces. Very useful when dealing with turrets if you're patient.

This is so helpful when navigating some of the tighter buildings in the Commonwealth, especially the ones crawling with raiders and mirelurks.

It saved my ass a few times in the Massachusetts State House when

No reason to take cover with the power armor on. Hardest difficulty setting, I go from raider compound to raider compound with my bare fists and clear out entire zones that way. If you have enough spare armor pieces, you can really last long like that anyways, even against harder enemies. If you can't, you need a bigger gun. And I know a way to get the alien blaster EXTREMELY early, so you have no excuse. Won't spoil it, but I can PM you a quick, easy way before lv 6 if you want it

It's barely a "cover system". It's really only a lean mechanic in the left and right directions. And it only works in first person. Lol.

Bethesda is beyond lazy.

I think they did that intentionally rather than being lazy based the amount of contents they have it this game lol. Keeping that Fallout 3 and NV charm maybe.

There are cores everywhere, there is literally no reason to ever get out of that thing unless you are crafting. Plus, it's not lore friendly to ever be forced to switch one of these out, each and every one of these is supposed to last 100 years of continued use, not 10 minutes. Install a mod that doesn't drain the battery, it's up on nexus
