Maybe Shep would be a good name - short for Shepherd (The dog in the trailer is a Schäferhund (German Shepherd) after all)

maybe Ulysses in reference to the courier

I've always thought Dogmeat was a... strange name, but I'll likely go with that for nostalgia.

It's a German Shepherd, so Rex feels like a fitting name. Not just because of NV's Rex but because of the TV show Inspector Rex, it was one of my favourite shows as a kid.
Then again, since we already had Rex in NV i might be obliged to name it something different. We'll see when the name options are revealed.
