So after releasing Archwing, which consists of special harnesses allowing you to free-fly through outer space in a true 3D environment, the devs of Warframe hinted at an underwater system nicknamed Sharkwing (not officially called that, just a working title). So basically they said we could be able to swim underwater with diver-grineers and water-based robots and fish and stuff. I was really excited about it!
The last event (Tubemen of Tyl Regor) promised to show previews of the water tileset, but to my dismay, they were just random on-foot running (hacking and shooting) maps, with decoration details like pipes bursting water and no more than 2 inches of water flooding the floor. Splish splash, nothing swimmingly Even more so, when one of the mission's objectives required flooding an entire room, falling into it just respawned you to a dry platform
So I was very distraught that the underwater maps would just be in underwater bases, no actual swimming, just running through a base that has small leaking problems We had that in infested Orokin maps before, so it brought nothing particularly new.
However, the Codex still showed these guys: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] so I was sort of hopeful we might battle these nasty swimmers eventually
and yesterday evening, in the Devstream, while they were showcasing Excalibur's abilities reworked, they accidentally showed underwater swimming animations!
As you can see it was an accident She was super embarrassed about it and Steve just dropped on his back while Scott was trying to redirect the conversation back on track After a bit they previewed a bit more of it (when she asks "should I?" to jump in and out quickly), but OMG!
This is great! So far, they use actual Archwing wings, but I'm sure in time we'll have more nautical gear. As they said, that was not ready to be shown yet. However, the transition is amazing! From on-foot to underwater and vice-versa went really smoothly, so I'm also hoping we'll have missions switching from one to another! We'll start in midspace - then land on a planet - then swim underwater and fulfill different, specific objectives that way
I am very happy over this! Can't wait to see the infested sharks (will probably scare the hell out of me) and to see if we can park our liset underwater too

Eh...honestly I usually turn into a squeeling teen fangirl for Warframe stuff but this... I didnt even flinch, big deal, its WIP, looks crap and its not like they didnt tell us we will have "sharkwing". Plus it was a ploy, so it just happened to be a level where super jump would lead to a pool of water, accidentaly in the devbuild that has sharkwing behavior/scripts working...come on teddy

That was Scott's room to test animations, he can have whatever he wants in it. She wasn't supposed to jump through that section either.
and it's clearly not ready to be shown, as they all say, that's why they reset it quickly. There will be water distortion added, water environments and as I said, new units and archwings If they wanted to show it, they would've shown it when it's ready, not half-assed. If you saw the entire devstream, the reactions were genuine.
And underwater environments mean sharks and shit, of course I'm excited Don't downplay this, razberry, it's a big deal for the game as a whole! Pissin on the parade doesn't really do you any favors. Every faction will have new underwater units, new weapons (which don't cause fire/flames/explosions) and a lot more details we don't even think about now. You'll see! And even if they announced it, as I said (had you read the message in the topic starter), I was made to believe that the tubemen maps will be the only underwater action we'll see. Which was none at all tbh So yeah! I'm fucking psyched!

I have been on a Warframe hiatus for a while now, but that livestream leak was pretty interesting. Would love to take some baddies on underwater!

I like how this time I'm all meh about something while DV is being a squeeling warframe fangirl Gotta appreciate the irony in this hehe. Sure I'd like some new stuff in Warframe but what I am actually hyped for is the catbrow and kubrow armor Cant find kubrow armor pic bah

I want a sharkbrow pet and them cats' heads are too small. can't even pretend it's a cheetah, that's how small that head is. they should've made them lizards, cause lizards are amphibious.

Underwater archwing stuff is just more stuff I'm going to ignore. I just don't think archwing was fun, moving it underwater isn't likely to improve it much.
