The creation club isn't really a succes is it.

Post by tuxek on Tue Aug 29, 2017 11:10 pm

So I don't know if others already have made a topic about this.
I doubt no one ever has spoken on this before but I really couldn't find anything so I will just make a new topic.

So the Creation Club has been released today and I am really unimpressed. I think they still did it in a horrible way.

prices:

Mostly I just find the prices really done terribly.
So you can buy credits at the cheapest a bundle of 750 credits on which you may buy two little armour mods.
Well maybe one and a cheaper version because the one is 500 and the other is 400. Oh wait thats not enouh so lay in another 750 credits.

At this point you will have spend 12 euros or whatever it is in dollar or pound and you will have aquired something that you could just freely download.

I feel these modders should be compensated but the prices are just too much.
I haven't even looked in full detail but if I happened to find Maxwells world, Trainwizzes huge quest and land mod I don't think it will have the same price as some of the other armours.

I really need some more context to this conversation about how much bigger mods will cost but if that stuff will cost more than 15 euros I feel they are overstepping their boundaries.

I just hoped they would have done it in some sort of Humble Bundle way in which the cheapest items would just be €1 and you have the option to pay more.

Sadly I think they messed up and many modders who deserve to be compensated won't be.

The funny thing is, at least for the creation club beta, is that all the mods have already been downloaded after CC is installed. Literally all you're paying for is an .esp file lmao.

Someone could theoretically speaking recreate these mods for free from the .ba2 files included in Creation Club. I'm sure Bethesda will rectify this sometime down the line.

As for the prices, I too think it's far too much just for mods when I can go on the nexus and grab free mods. An example being dogtooth and unoctium's Chinese Steal Suit is superior to the one on the creation club, at least feature wise. Aesthetically both look great, but one is free and the other is not.

I always released my mods for free. I never even put up a donation button. I know some modders do and they capitalize on it but I never felt the need to. So I`m half torn on the subject since it could be a great way for modders to break into the industry. At the same time though, it could be us being nickeled and dimed to death because every guy who can desaturate a texture thinks that his edit is worth 20 bucks. Where would it stop? Would they start putting a monthly subscription fee on using the creation kit next? These may seem far fetched at this time but these are the things that come to mind when I think of these kinds of things.

So on one hand I`m glad that modders who dedicate tons of hours into creating quality stuff have the opportunity to work with a game company. On the other hand, at the same time I can see it get completely out of hand with paid exclusive stuff that is too pricey.

I could see myself paying 5 bucks once in awhile for something, but that something needs to make my jaw drop. If I could make it myself or have a close alternative I wouldn`t. I would gladly pay for more landmass and quests. Not shit little quests either, faction quests and storylines added in with new places to explore. Make it true DLC and I`ll buy it. Give Piper 500 more lines of dialogue and mission to save her little sister from a supermutant warlord who think she has the milk of human kindness in her veins and he`s draining her dry! Make stuff like that and I`ll throw down greenbacks.

I think the prices are overpriced and in its current form, there's only a couple things I would consider buying, and not for the price they're set at. If they decide to actually make something worthwhile, like a new quest line or creature mod, then I might change my tune.

Hi, i have a question regarding this forced download of assets from the creation club. Does anyone here knows if this is happening only because those available at the moment are all homegrown mods made directly from bethesda?
And also....is there anyway to fool steam into believing you still have those files after you delete them? I don't know you guys but i'm no data center, and even if i was i really can't stand to have the HD ridden of worthless garbage like pip boy colors and black armors (pfft.. probably the most common mods after cbbe babes with gigantic jugs) that i can't even use if i don't buy credits for it.

As it is currently Creation Club is a joke and I don't care about it honestly.

If the content had proper quests then it would be fine. Lets take the Gauss Rifle and Chinese Stealth Suit for example. If they had bundled those two into one and made a decently sized quest then I think it would have been fine. They could have made it belong to some Ghoul that survived the war and before the war they had served in Anchorage. While they were there an Officer gave the Stealth Suit to them and they got to keep their rifle. Make it better than just going around the fucking Commonwealth looking for it in a chest at a military checkpoint (like what the actual fuck) or adding some basic location to house it or even just adding the thing to the inventory of the player...

What I am saying is IF the content was worth it then it would make sense (could have made an add-on that brought the Enclave back and bundled the Hellfire, Onyx Paint and something else for 5-10 bucks), but in its current state they are the lesser equivalent to GRA from NV.

Final thought is CC is more like Horse Armor 2.0 and in its current state is just a really bad joke that is extremely face palm worthy.

What really annoys me is that their mods are forcibly downloaded onto your PC which just takes up more memory from it.
I don't even have a bethesda account :/

I really hope that this crashes and burns like the when valve attempted it.

Also I just noticed, theyre in BA2 format, so all you have to do is extract it from the BA2 with the B.A.E and YOU CAN LITERALLY PUT THE MOD BACK TOGETHER BY USING A NEW ESP FROM THE CREATION KIT.
@tuxek if I'm right (and if you know how to use the CK), you won't have to pay a thing :p

I just extracted the Prey armor as an example:
looky:

I don't if they fucked up big time or maybe it's just the homebrew mods that are being forcibly downloaded or maybe I'm just being an asshole who's jumping to conclusions (that's probably the one). Regardless, this was handled poorly.

@MrObamatron Agreed Literally Bethesda is going the wrong way with this.

One, the Mods are automatically installed into the game which means that I need to expand for more space for other mods now as Bethesda is gonna release maybe 10GB of mods. IF it goes anywhere and all that is literally just in packed files that all modders know how to extract.

Two, The pricing......what....I mean the only mod that seem interesting is the Fallout 3 Gauss Rifle which idk the pricing for it is yet but all I need is to see the basic price for credits and I'm done. 8 DOLLARS for 750 credits WHY even patreon mods are cheaper and those are like 1 dollar for all mods usually. Plus I'm pretty sure later on someone will make a even better one with custom animations and stuff instead of using the laser musket animation.

Finally, The fact that they are so easily extractable is like bound for piracy and literally just putting them in the folder where our data is at is the worst idea. I thought that they were optional but now it isn't. What is the point of having them in my folder taking space. Might as well unpack them, put them on creation kit and make yourself put it in the game for free. They should of make so that if you bought one make it downloadable from your Bethesda account then just download it their.

Yeah, I laughed my ass off when I saw the archives were in the folder already and we can just rebuild the mod for free.

God I hate this creation club idea, it's so stupid.

This Bethesda club creation is exactly what I did not want, making it all paying.
The mods shares a community should be free,
the simple principle of sharing and good returns would have sufficed.

Bethesda realizes the world in which we live, or everything is bought and sold.

So thank you Bethesda, like all the gamers in the world, I had too much money in my pockets, thank you for relieving me.

(Why is not Bethesda paying for modder's ..... not enough money). ????

I have read the full thread and honestly, I have nothing original to say that wasn't said by anyone already.

I am in total disbelieve and utterly speechless of how disastrous of the creation club was presented. As Gopher had said, "it's a joke, at best".

I truly hope it will eventually evolved into a greenhouse for high-quality mega mods, but I am very doubtful at the moment.

At the moment my only problem with this creation club is the forced download of assets.
What does someone do with his own money it's not my concern and honestly if they create a doom pack with weapons and armors i would even considerate to buy it.
But forcing me to store your data without the means to using it besides giving you money caused me to immediatly stop my current Fallout playthrough until the moment that bethesda give us some explanation of what is going on.

Re: The creation club isn't really a succes is it.

I'm surprised that people were expecting to find little DLCs in the Creation Club upon its release, because - and correct me if I'm wrong - the Creation Club was never meant to house quality content made by Bethesda, but by modders. And whether or not a modder decides to publish content there, is that respective person's decision alone. Meaning I disagree with the assessment this whole idea being stupid and I don't think mods should be free per se. Not least because it takes so much time to set something up and the people out there take it all for granted as if the mods were making themselfs. So I would neither be surprised if someone decides to do it nor would I blame that person.

That being said, the fact that right now one is forced to download assets is very annoying. And yes, I highly doubt that this will be a success with such prices. If some weapons cost that much, I wonder how much one would have to pay regarding proper quest mods. Judging from the fact that one can by a credits-pack for 35, it'll be probably far more than 5 or 10, which would be utterly ridiculous.

To me, this is nothing but micro transactions added to a single player, just like Shadow of War. I think what would have been better for Creation Club is that the content is for free but only the biggest mods like Cascadea should be paid only. I would be fine giving money to the people making Cascadea because they are adding so much content to the game and has years of work put into them but I would not pay for a stupid pipboy reskin. Hell, the prices for the points are ridiculous as well.
