I just heard about this a few minutes ago and I'm in the process of reading into it. From what I can gather, it's essentially one of those MMO type of PvP games where you spawn and just kill other players. It's "functional" right now, but appears to still be in Beta. It still has work that needs to be done.

I hope that when they finish that they will allow private servers with mods to open up. It'd certainly be fun to have my mods and play with a friend.

Here is the FAQ from the site:

It's going to be a lot of work to make it fully functional. I guess I'm going to be that party ruiner in this topic  Smile

The major problem for hosting modded games is that you must have the exact same build than the guy who is hosting the server. So personally I don't see it happening anytime soon, or ever. First, some mods are private and everyone does not have acces to them, you can't make these mods to download automatically when joining the server. Mods are huge and take a lot of time to download and takes hard drive space.

Unfortunately it's highly probable that you are going to be restricted to the vanilla game.

That's why I'm hoping for private servers. It'd make it possible. I just want to boot the server up with one or two people to play with. If it's just a few people, then mods are possible.

I think I've seen similar projects for Skyrim and Morrowind. One thing that scares me though is the relative instability of the engine, which crashes for me at times for no apparent reason even with all the possible patches and fixes applied.

@"superpele" Yeah, I have to agree. Gamebyro is literally one of the worst engines when it comes to stability, so it would be next to impossible to get this mod stable enough to use for extended gameplay sessions. Especially considering that the engine was NOT meant for that. However, I've been surprised on more than one occasion when it comes to people making multiplayer available for single player games. Just Cause 2 comes to mind.
