So I've been thinking this recently. Could Synth parts be used to "rebuild" damaged humans? Similar to what Kellogg had done with the implants.

Could ghouls have their skin, organs, and vocal chords "rebuilt" by using parts made by the institute? Could people with missing limbs have them replaced?

It occurred to me that(At least in story) The institute could be re purposed to be an actual "improvement to humanity" company than a humanity replacement company.

So what's your thoughts? Could some people take over/find the ruins of the institute and turn it into a facility used to bring humans back to their former glory after going through damage, or even improve them?

I think it was something that should've been covered. I think adding cybernetic limbs and what not to Fallout 4 would've been cool. Like coming across more people like Kellogg who were helped by the institute, with their quality of life improvements on the body. It would definitely would be interesting, possibly over time the people of the Institute could become kind of like the augs in Deus Ex.

When I played Nuka-World, after having helped the Institute achieve victory, I was thinking of something similar when I came across the creator of Nuka Cola (and an allegory for Walt Disney). He was just a head being kept alive by life support, and he wanted to die, the girl wanted him to live, meanwhile I was thinking "Hey, the Institute has synths, maybe we could graft his head onto one of their bodies?" Just another missed opportunity by Bethesda.

Well it's no new thing to have cybernetic implants in the real of Fallout. We've seen it on animals and in humans. But, it has seemingly been to a more basic degree. If something like the institute were re-purposed for the betterment of humanity instead of simply trying to replace everything that we are as a human society, i think they could have been a world-saving organization that could have eventually brought the world back to an image of what it once was.

Aside from the philosophy of it all, i think they could easily implement synth technology into the human world by replacing missing limbs and parts of people. The wasteland is a really dangerous place and anything could go wrong at any moment.

Within the story, the institute ending of Fallout 4 almost implies that you can roleplay and sort of fabricate what you as the new "Father" do with the institute. So, you could continue on the path that Father was originally on and try replacing humanity with synthetic beings, or you could stop that and actually try and help the people of the commonwealth. I have never done an institute playthrough myself because i don't trust robots and i'm basically like Will Smith in that movie I-Robot.

But, synth tech could totally be used to help people instead of hurt them.

I would transfer my brain/consciousness into synth body and live for ever, at least i think that's how it would work, nick for e.g. he has consciousness of a pre-war detective he thinks he is him or maybe even he is him just in synth body.

Cant use synths to make them work for us as they want to be free like humans so that's out of the picture, its bit racist if you think about it, it would end like it have ended with slavery back in the day.

@Grimmex, institute is replacing people with synths cos we are danger to our self and environment around us, same like in terminator movies we are self destructive beings, the computers just did the math and if we are to kill our self's at some point and destroy everything in our path and around us they might as well do it now and save what ever is left.

@Dead Man Exactly why i don't like the robots closed eyes smile

And yeah, if your consciousness was transferred into a synthetic body, you could most likely live forever as long as the body itself did not wear out. Then again, you could also just keep getting a new body. But i feel like after many transfers, your consciousness would begin to wear out and go insane. But, that's just my theory. It sounds like some horror movie or something.

Yes it can the synthetics can finally cleanse earth of humans that's a good trade for me and the best part about them they can take people and make more synths to fight humans.

I've said it before that Synths were/are Humanity's future. In a world destroyed by Nuclear holocaust, what better way to survive then through synths. It's already been show that you can transfer memories and consciousness. What better way to survive and succeed in the Wasteland then in bodies immune to radiation, disease, poison. Bodies that are stronger, faster, and better equipped to handle the mutated threats stalking the wastes. Not to mention no need for food or sleep, imagine what can be accomplished.

I was greatly disappointed how much Bethesda dropped the ball on the development of the Institute. So much story potential, so many things could have been explored through the Institute.

Institute technology could pave the way to immortality.  A person's conscience could be transferred to an android after their organic body whithered away.  The conscience could also be shared between multiple synthetic bodies, so if one "fails" the person is still alive in another body.

Other advantages may include teleportation abilities, increased strength, mind processing power, and faster run times. cheers

Synth technology could prolong life for as long as newer technology is backwards compatible. I remember an old episode of Teen Titans where Cyborg was very out of date, and confined to the tower because it had plugs that matched him. If we plan to do consciousness uploading and stuff like that, there needs to be exactly one plug and one method for as long as it is practiced. Imagine being stuck in a crippled immortal body because your USB doesn't work.

lol no nature is good because humans CANNOT live forever and be immortal. Imagine if people that could harm humanity could live forever. Imagine because of all the planet becoming immortal and reproducing, the Earth's resources would run out way faster, killing all of us (including numerous animals) and dooming humanity's last hope for survival.

Synths should not be killed though, since I do believe they are sentient and they cannot distinguish their own kind as being synths, therefore not knowing the possibility of a synth invasions victory and therefore eliminating the odds of a synth rebellion.

i honestly have no idea why humanity wants to defeat nature for. The Institute say they want to better mankind, but they do it by dooming it instead. It's why any ending is better than the Institute ending.

In other words, the only way synth tech could be used for good is to make them dumb robots with simple programming, like a Mr Handy.

Well if the technology was ever researched and confirmed than it might be used to prolong a human's life, but then it'll have it's uses and flaws. Uses would be a longer live for those people that are about to age or die. And the flaws would happen if the technology falls into the hands of hungry-greedy dictators that only wants everyone to bow at their feet (North Korea would be a perfect example).

But on a technical side, Synths would prove to be a useful aid to humanity. Why? They might be robots with artificial intelligence but if programmed and monitored properly, they can be used in many humanitarian relief efforts. As seen in the Institute, they can also be programmed to help maintain machines in workshops or areas where the area pose a danger to us humans.

Though - humans tend to get complacent after a long period of time, believing that the Synths could do anything and everything, from simple farming to fighting in a global war. That way, no humans need to die. But then again, if one Synth went corrupted - the rest would follow.
