If there were to be a Fallout New Vegas 2 what would you want?
What would you want the story to be about?
What characters would you like to return?
What ending would you like to be canonical?
Would you want the game to immediately follow FNV or wait a certain amount of time?

Well, the NCR ending would be my canonical ending, as the Legion are monsters, and I never did the Solo/House endings.

Story, well, I'm not a writer, so that'd have to be someone else's department.

Returning characters would be troublesome, as so many could have died in terrible ways, others may have never been met. Again, a writer would need to handle this.

Overall, I just want another Obsidian Fallout game, they turn sub-par into fantastic, because despite Bethesda trying to torpedo them at every turn, they still released a great game.

I would have the Yes Man ending as the canon ending. It seemed fitting that the courier would craft a new realm as he did in the Divide.

The story would probably be something about the courier expanding east (considering he wouldn't, as House said, "go to war with his best customers" out west). Scheming to take over a new wasteland through making alliances with the communities, establishing trade routes, maybe overtaking settlements by force, all up to the player. I don't know.

The game should of course be in the new improved engine Fallout 4 introduced. Maybe get a few worldspace designers from Bethesda to join Obsidian, and give it plenty of development time (the original only had a year). I think working with the community fanbase rather than selling out to a broad fanbase of three year olds like Bethesda did with Fallout 3 and 4, would be great. Their main focus should be recruiting the original Black Isle behind the first Fallout games back into Obsidian, considering all developers of Fallout New Vegas are no longer at Obsidian.

But it in general, I don't think New Vegas should have a sequel. A new wasteland and story entirely with references to the older games would be great. How unlikely it may be, they really need to get the original developers together before Bethesda runs Fallout into the ground by Disneyfyeing it.

Even though Avellone has left Obsidian, I still think that the company can do a lot with the fallout title as they're more concerned with pleasing the RPG audience rather than the broad spectrum of gamers in their entirety. That being said... Here are the things I'd love to see from a new Fallout title made by Obsidian...

- Don't name it Fallout: New Vegas II, even if you're continuing the story of New Vegas. It still annoys me that the new Red Dead is being named 'Red Dead Redemption II' as opposed to Red Dead Revenge or Red Dead Revolution, etc. Keep it unique, it feels so much better without a number attached.

- Keep Fallout 4's settlement building system. While it should be altered slightly in concept and reason, I felt Bethesda's Settlement system was a huge step forward for the Fallout Franchise, something I often spend 'Hours' doing in game. I'd be sort of sad to see it go un-involved in a new Obsidian title.

- In accordance with the above, I'd also love to see Fallout 4's weapon modification system make a return in a new obsidian title, after all they introduced the system to Fallout in the first place, why not reap the benefits of a much prettier descendant? All in all, anything that allows that player to further customize not just themselves, but their gear and even the world is very, very welcome.

- While on the subject of customization, I'd really, really love to have a 'Ghoul' race implemented into the game with it's own manageable tribulations and needs. While Super Mutants are also something asked for in a race, I'm pretty certain that they're far less possible than ghouls, so I'm more than content if they're left beyond our reach. In all honesty, this isn't a major one for me, but if a ghoul race were added, or the option to become a ghoul /with/ it's own unique attributes and interactions, I'd be over-joyed.

- And finally, Vehicles... Vehicles or mutated animals that are fit for riding. Just something that we can tame, name and ride across the wasteland. Honestly, I'm sort of bewildered that this isn't already a part of the Fallout franchise given it's similarity to skyrim which certainly has it's own horse skeletons that seem possible to transmute between several different creatures in the fallout universe.

Note: There's New Vegas spoilers but most of us probably know the game inside out already

As much as House is the happiest ending in terms of getting humanity and civilization back on track, considering the amount of choices you can make in New Vegas the only way they could possibly continue up on the story is to make House die canonically, which would cause an internal power struggle in New Vegas.

And make it so that in the confusion nobody knows how he died, whether it was the player or some other accident or assassination.

Set the game at least some years after New Vegas so that the different families of the Strip are now fighting for power and the NCR's overextension has caused them to not be able to control the territory. After Caesar's death the Legion would have split up into packs of tribals or raiding factions because
Spoiler:

This kind of chaos combined with passing time would make it easy to explain factions having new leaders, because having all the same characters that could have died in NV alive would make everything that happened in NV pointless.

The remaining House's former securitrons would aimlessly wander the desert due to lack of orders and some settlements would have taken them in for protection

I think that's one way to make a sequel possible in a way that makes the continuation somewhat smooth, but I don't know if it would feel right. As much as I love New Vegas, I just don't know if there's any way to revisit it without a complete reboot and reimagining, and that wouldn't really feel right either.

/end

Revisiting some of the territories of Fallout 1 and 2 and the city of New Reno could be great in 3D. A setting reminiscient of the Wild West with a sci-fi and post-apocalyptic twist just feels so right for Fallout, lawless deserts, trading towns and so on.

I think it would be cool to see NCR as the cannon ending and I would enjoy to see Vegas again along with the Core Region.
The story would be 50 years after the events of F:NV, and it would paint Vegas and the core region as a civilized land, controlled by the NCR who is still pushing it's "Manifest Destiny" Mantra, But this civilized land is nothing more than a facade, The ncr is killing Political Dissidents, Stomping on the rights they promised, and turning from the good republic they were, to an evil empire. Your character would be a person who has fought the changing way of life and now is a abnormality.
I believe this basic idea for a story would capture the Western idea of F:NV, (A cowboy having to deal with the loss of his way of life), and a force stronger then our hero he has to overcome.
No real returning characters most would be dead maybe one or two but not many.
I hope Obsidian will make another Glourios Fallout.

Nah, tbh I preferred the Independent Vegas ending to NCR, so I'd like to say that's canon, but I dont want to debate which ending is canon or not with the Legionnaires and NCR Rangers.

I wouldnt want a NV 2 though. I like new stories and places to explore, and I doubt Obsidian would place another game in the same location as their previous game. Not even Bethesda does that. It would be a recipe for disaster.

If Obsidian make another fallout game, I hope it's another location or even a remade NV in the FO4 engine. That would be the best Fallout game ever if Bethesda doesn't remake Fallout 3 in it first.

If they do end up with another location that's similar to NV though, I'd like Arcade Gannon, ED-E, Sunny Smiles, Yesman and No-Bark Noonan to return.

Well personally if Obsidian did make another fallout game I wouldn't want it to be back in New Vegas but rather to continue the story that it had.  A fallout game that took place in Arizona specifically the Phoenix area.   Basically it would be some years after the Legion's defeat at hoover damn, because lets face it 3 of the endings to NV involve the NCR defeating the Legion so that is very likely what is to going to be canon, and by having it take place in Arizona and not even the slightest in the Mojave would allow for them to not really have to reference whether or not the NCR's victory ended with General Oliver getting tossed off the Hoover Dam, or well you know what I mean.

As for the story it would likely include a civil war between Caesar's sons following his death, now I don't know how many he actually had but with the time passage it would probably boil down to only 2 or potentially 3 being left.  One who is just as bad if not worse than Caesar and one who is much better and basically a good guy (not all roman emperor's were assholes after all) and the potential third being more kinda neutral like.  This would also be the first fallout game where the Brotherhood of Steel are not actually present, because if they did have an Arizona chapter odds are the Legion likely destroyed it already.  However, this would present the perfect opportunity to actually introduce a new faction that was talked about in NV which is the Circle of Steel.  Now if they did actually make the actual NCR ending where they won the damn and took over the Mojave canon, which is quite likely as it seems to be the most popular of the endings.  It would allow them to also return in this game with the goal of further expansion but mainly to just stamp out the Legion once and for all.

As for returning characters in terms of followers from NV, I can only really see two having a good shot at making a cameo whether its as followers or just npcs, and those are Veronica with her now being part of the Circle of Steel and the second one being Raul.  Because all of their endings kind of allow for it.  Another one who might show back up would probably be Cass, but the odds are a little less than with Raul and Veronica.

Anywho that's not just what I would like to see in a new fallout game made by Obsidian, but its also what I believe their next game actually might be about.  I'll keep my fingers crossed for "Fallout:  Pheonix."

Fallout Phoenix I would love if they made a prequel to NV/same time showing the actual legion territory

First post, touching on some stuff already mentioned. Just wanted to put in my two cents TongueTril

Something that expanded on more of the Van Buren content would be really cool. After two games dealing with NCR expansion I think an independent Vegas (whether House or Yes Man doesn't really matter in this context) would be appropriate canon.

Personally I think a Fallout game set in Legion territory would be really cool, like Arizona for example, if we still want to retain a Wild West feel to the series, as opposed to cyberpunk (although of course Fallout should always retain cyberpunk elements).

With territory east of Hoover Dam it would allow for more expanded lore for the Legion, plus it would be really cool to see what happens to the Legion after being defeated at Hoover Dam (if we are to assume that independence is canon). I'd assume that Caesar is dead, but maybe Lanius is still alive, and maybe also Vulpes Inculta, leading to the Legion's leadership fracturing and war between different personalities and leaders with different opinions on how to keep Caesar's legacy alive. At the same time there could be revolutionary groups fighting a weakened Legion empire, towns and even tribes seceding themselves from Legion control and demanding independence or all out freedom.

And with all the the eastern setting, there's Van Buren content that could fit nicely into the game, like the robot Diana who believes herself to be a goddess, the Nursery, the Ghoul Reservation. There's a lot of cool ideas and content to be salvaged from Van Buren, and a lot of great stuff to be had just from the "Legion Locations" themselves.

Another cool place could be Wyoming, where the Khans may have headed. It's a place that's been mentioned several times but we know almost nothing about it, so would be a cool place to discover and develop. Plus the Midwestern Brotherhood could have a presence there.

There are so many avenues to expand from New Vegas it's sad to think it'll probably never be realised, at least not officially.
