The modding community in some measure has been in decline. Many of the veteran modders did not like Fallout 4 and chose to stay with Fallout New Vegas. I had thought the modding would start booming when the CK came out for Fallout 4, but it really hasn't. The modders that have made major contributions to Fallout 4, are also the same ones that are getting dicked over.
So if they choose to quit, that's a large chunk of the more significant mods on the FO4 Nexus. If they leave, it might be some time before quality mods start coming out again. Because they're already few and far between. There is so much drek getting posted as it is. Many people are uploading simple edits and just uploading them to the Nexus, where 5 other people uploaded an edit doing the same thing.
I don't mean to be offensive, but this is the second time the modding community has been upset in such a major way. First time being paid mods. I think some peoples attitudes now is that Bethesda doesn't give a shit and in turn they are starting to not give a shit. Not once, but twice now they have not consulted or worked with the modding community. Alternatively, look at Firaxis and how they worked with the authors of the Long War mod, to have extra content on day one release for Xcom 2. Collaboration even before game release.
I think one thing that would improve the situation is if Todd Howard got involved and reached out to the community.
Heya I'm back after reading a lot about that console mod problem.
So yeah it's a scary things that is happening and even if modders are trying to fight back we have just seen the first wave of console gamer, only the xbox player are here, the playstation player will come too ( V has come too ) and I don't think they will be better nor worse (if it's even possible after stealing and threatening modders because the mod were not out fast enough).
Bethesda really need to step up their security and moderation on their site (is it true that there is no one moderating outside of office hour ?) and work with the already established modding community and stop the little number war they are trying to push (beth.net having a traffic *50 higher when console modding came out than when it came out in PC).

I own a Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4 and a PC and many other consoles and I am very happy that mods are out for the console and since I already have the game and the season pass for the Console I don't feel like buying it again for PC right now and I seen a post on Reddit where some console dumb fucks are constantly spamming modders and calling them names. Those people need to jump off a cliff. Do you morons not understand that these modders have real jobs and that modding is their hobby not a job? Not all of the mods are compatible on consoles and will not work? Get that through your thick fucking skulls.
(Btw im not saying this to any one of you im saying this to the people who are idiots and never modded in their life.)
Now onto the mod theft, i am absolutely disgusted by this, it is disgusting and disrespectful. Their are people who steal the mods and take the credit for themselves. They are the real scum, the amount of time and effort the modders put into the mod only to have people steal it is and claim it as their own is such a shitty feeling.
I am a console gamer yes, i do mod Fallout 4 on the Xbox One yes, but i have respect for the modders and if they don't want to to port a specific mod to the console i will understand and i will honor their wish, its his decision and his mod not your's to decide if it should be ported to the Xbox or not.
If most of the PC modders are going to be using the Fallout 4 Scrip Extender as a DRM against the consoles then that is fine with me, while it may be sad i will understand them and i will support them, this needs to stop.

Mod theft will just cause people to think that the fo4 modding community is greedy and corrupt and it can cause them to leave forever ( like some fnv modders did in the past)
But people DEMANDING that certain mods will be made for consoles is childish , getting mods for console is very lucky and your not entitled now to all pc mods , hopefully nobody will come to gun to ask for console version of the mods here ....

I mean, that's most of the reason why modern consoles are the bane of gaming! Their community base is composed of braindead toddlers who whine and insult at anything if they don't get their way. Plus they are in costant denial and do not value people's work...lucky me i am making my titanic job ( the mod i am taking ages to finish) for new vegas so i am spared from this crap.
