It's a shame this is happening, but not unexpected. People has been stealing mods for a while now but never on this scale. There isn't really much to be done, modding is dying in a way or at least is going through a rough path.

And people do still wonder why this community was created in the first place. Truth is this place is safer to post your mods than in the nexus.

I do hope for some kind of resolution on the matter. Unfortunably, I don't think Bethesda cares that much about mod thieves, but maybe if people keep pushing they'll start fixin things up

I knew there was going to be thieves stealing content and uploading it on Bethesda.net but not to this extent. I'm pretty fucking pissed about this since now it we are in danger of our mods getting stolen.

I had high hopes for modding for consoles because it's success could mean a whole new modding frontier for consoles for any games, where you don't need to modify your consoles to risk losing your xbox live (which is a stupid and outdated business model).

I'm greatly disappointed to see what this has devolved into. I knew there was going to be hiccups and speed bumps but I didn't think it would go to this extent. It just strengthens the negative stigma of console gamers vs pc gamers and vice versa. I think Beth need to pull the plug temporarily on the Beth Net till things get straightened out. As @Limitlessness mentioned, they didn't consult with any of the modders on Nexus. You know what other they did once that also had a very big backlash when they didn't consult anybody. Paid Mods, we all know how well that worked out.

So now the question, is the console community even worth modding for? Clearly divisions have already formed and now it's a question if there are going to be lines in the sand next. I mentioned something about this to a friend from GUN and he said it was just drama. I hope it's just drama and all this gets sorted out.

Many people have gone to pc gaming becuase of modding, could it also be said, that those that have incredible experiences with mods on console, become inspired to go to PC to create mods? I still see the potential in all this and hope it smooths out.

simply put i can't even understand how can people play a bethesta game on console i.e without raw nexus et all power .their games are garbage without mods. my total respect for all those who spend time for all of us creating mods and f__k those who steal them

It has been so damn long since I have played anything on console that had any sort of community I really had not thought that this would have been an issue at all. Sadly seeing the posts and hell DDproductions response is actually heart breaking. That being said legal console modding (not modding the hardware), is really new so hopefully this is just one of those steps back before we continue on down the right path. I mean everyone hates hackers in Multiplayer and there are ways to deal with them and they are just annoying pests so hopefully we can move past this.

The form from bethesda might not actually be a bad idea, yes it is annoying but it is not much different than if someone had stolen your bike, you need to file a report and go through the process, does it suck, most often yes, is it lengthy yes but it can be beneficial. If they see that a mod author's work has been stolen then they can keep an eye out for anything else that Author has made.

I hate to be that guy, but it's really no different from existing problems. Problem is that guy's like DD purposely provoked console players and stirred the flames before it even occurred.

The only reason it's safer to post mods here is because of anonymity and the illegal nature of the mods here. Take the two away, and expect problems too.

I think its safe to say its not just the "Console Plebs" that are uploading all that stolen content. I really believe there are some pc users getting a kick out of the reactions theyre seeing online.

I have ready many posts from console users asking questions about what is going on and how it affects the community. They immediately get met with hostility and treated as if theyre part of the problem simply because they are "Console Peasants".

I was wondering if anybody can confirm, it looks like Beth has shut down the mod section on Beth Net, but it's possible I'm having a browser issue.

@Evmeister. Their Twitter says that it's just scheduled maintenance.

Either way, Bethesda needs to implement better moderation of these mods. Mod theft and piracy will always be a thing however there is no need to add more kindling to that fire.

We'll see. A step in the right direction I suppose. Some might disagree, but I had advocated they shut it down in a previous post, albeit temporarily until they can come up with a better way. I think they need a verification process. Some way to check the mod against what is on Nexus or something. I really don't know but right now the Nexus modders have no rights or protections besides hiding their mods. Hopefully if they go the scripting route, they share that process with the whole community, because not everybody is well versed in scripting.

" Hey everyone, sorry for the random post and I know most of you have no idea what is going on. The situation with console modding is slowly getting out of hand which has some people reminiscing the paid mods incident. This entire situation has been extremely frustrating to see unfold.
Here is the quick rundown of what is going on and why there have been a lot of fighting/drama. Fortunately for us we're not really affected since this situation is mainly a FO4 problem. However, the future of modding looks grim.
As you know console modding was recently released and Bethesda themselves claimed that it had 50x more traffic than PC mods. Apparently, 89% of FO4 shipped was on a console. This leads to a HUGE influx of new modders that have no idea on things like mutual respect of modders, load order, mod stability, etc.
Lately a lot of these console users have been stealing people's content from the Nexus and reuploading them as their own on Bethesda.net. Some of these people probably don't know anything about credits and permission. Others frankly don't care and I've seen it kill a lot of modder's passion for modding. Some thieves even boasted that have received donations for work they stole. Bethesda doesn't really seem to care too much about the current situation because it takes forever to take these stolen mods down. Just recently, Bethesda just announced a method to file a complaint of a stolen so it could be removed.
Robin aka Darkone of the Nexus wrote an excellent post on why this method will not work and it seems extremely ignorant to the modding community. It's an excellent read and I encourage people to read up on it.

In addition a lot of these console people have been messaging, begging, yes even threatening modders to release their mods on the console. A lot even support mod stealing arguing that the mod author "wasn't going to do it", or " was too slow", or "He's an asshole so let's upload his stuff" etc.
Because of console modding situation at hand, many modders are either quitting, hiding their mods or "poisoning" their own mods. Yes some modders are actually using F4SE to crash a console player's games if the mod was stolen. I have never heard of such a thing but look at what modders are resorting too. That's how desperate some of the modders got. When is the last time you have heard modders implementing "Crashing" features.
I hope Bethesda does something to rectify this situation before they lose a modders... and they need to do it REAL fast.

Am I the only one here bothered that EVERYONE is saying that it's all Bethesda's or the Console modding Idea's fault ?

And, Let's be serious, the modding community of ALL the Betheda games will not die just because of this situation... While I like and respect Fallout : The Frontier, I think the admin of this page might be over-reacting a bit

@FafnirEtherion, Having to file a DMCA takedown request for every single instance of an upload is very inefficient though. They are acknowledging the issue but are hardly presenting any efforts to combat this.

I read Dark0ne's post and it really does outline the problems with solely relying upon DMCA requests.
